Game Review: Pop the Lock (Mobile – Free to Play)

In the ever growing market of free to play & supposedly addictive easy to play games on phones, Pop the Lock doesn’t even try to be anything but 15 minutes of fun.

The premise is insulting easy…a marker moves around a dial on a lock & all you have to do is tap the screen as it goes over a yellow dot. Manage that & the marker changes direction towards another yellow dot.

The amount of times you have to do this to ‘pop the lock’ is based on your high score. If you’ve made it to level 11, you’ll have 11 yellow dots to hit. The higher score you get, the tougher it gets.

Miss once & you have to restart that level again…not exactly a fun prospect when you’re in the 20’s.

Pop the Lock 2

Simple gameplay that will quickly get boring as it never deviates but considering it is free with only a small ad banner at the bottom there is little to really complain about (I’ve since read that the game used to have obtrusive pop-up ads that came up every time you lost & these have been temporarily disabled to make them easier to close down – this will make it a much worse experience).
