My Favourite Video Game: Novacrow… Again!

My Favourite Video Game is a guest feature from bands and artists where we set them a simple task… tell us about your favourite video game. In this feature, vocalist and guitarist, Kitty of alternative metal band, Novacrow took up the mantle, and you can read all about the choice below.

Of course, this isn’t Novacrow’s first appearance within this series, and you can read all about bassist Freddy’s choice here. Also, while you’re checking out Novacrow content, don’t forget to check out their brand-new video for the track ‘Why Are My Dreams Always Trying To Kill Me?’ here. Taken from their debut album ‘Look At Me Now’.

This was such a tough choice, but based on the amount of times I’ve obsessively come back to the games, it has to be Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver.

The original Gold/Silver blew my mind when I was a kid. Hearing the music gives me instant nostalgia and I can still clearly remember being so excited first opening the box. My original Gold cartridge still works (after changing the battery, so it saves). I still remember how impressed it was at the fact it ‘knew the time’ and would change between day and night. I definitely spent many many hours with my crappy little gameboy light binging it when I was supposed to be asleep.

These remakes were a really good improvement: it fixed a few little quality of life features, there’s even more content/Pokemon available AND the lead Pokemon in your party stays out of the ball and walks with you. This is cute as hell, plus, I love the idea that people would be gasping and pointing at a child who is strolling around with a legendary Pokemon. Now I’m a massive fan of story driven first person survival/narrative heavy games- but I will always love Pokemon.
