Weekly Release Roundup: Monday 3rd Feb 2025 – Friday 7th Feb 2025
From progressive metal to power metal, to alternative rock, atmospheric black metal, and brutal death metal, it’s a big week for releases and we’ve got a list for you to check out. All these releases are out this week!
Jinjer – Duél (Napalm Records)
It’s not just that Jinjer are a progressive metal band, it’s that they’re redefining what that means. They are a band that lives and breathes unpredictability and, once again, they deliver something that is fresh and interesting.

Majestica – Power Train (Nuclear Blast Records)
The talent in the band is huge and therefore they will always do something in a song you love so the difference is just that on some songs, you find yourself fully attentive, wanting to learn the lyrics to feebly attempt to sing along. You bang your head, or sway, or feel emotional. Then, occasionally, you just don’t. You listen, enjoy, find moments but also find your attention drifting.

Call Me Amour – Call Me Amour (Circular Wave Records)
How great is this band? Delivering a fiery showcase of all that makes them so enjoyable. Namely electrifying and barbed electronica twisted around big guitar riffs and even bigger hooks, while the vocals alternate between aggressive shouts and powerful singing. With, almost always, a ton of anthemic quality.

With this new album, Marko Hietala extends his winning run, and the music world is all the better for having him in it as a creative force.

Demolyn – Slay the Godhead (Self Released)
The music on this EP is a clear step-up for Demolyn and the future has never looked brighter, even if it comes soaked in black and death vibes.

Saor – Amidst the Ruins (Season of Mist)
Only through multiple listens, across different time frames, different moods, a willingness to be patient and give it time investment, can a track like Amidst the Ruins be fully appreciated. It is every bit the epic long-term listeners would hope it to be, and then some.

Thundermother – Dirty & Divine (AFM Records)
A good rocking time is always guaranteed when Thundermother are about, and their hot streak continues with a riffy, groovy, rocking and anthemic ten-track hit.

Phrenelith – Ashen Womb (Dark Descent Records / Me Saco Un Ojo Records)
The whole album leaves you feeling mentally violated, yet fully aware that Phrenelith were invited in. The desire to feel such darkness and let it infect the imagination is simply too much to ignore. Don’t be surprised if you come away feeling ‘changed’ by it.
