EP Review: Call Me Amour – Call Me Amour (Circular Wave Records)

Alt-rock UK four-piece Call Me Amour will release their self-titled EP on February 7th, 2025, via Circular Wave Records.

How great is this band? Greeting us with a fiery showcase of all that makes them so enjoyable. Namely electrifying and barbed electronica twisted around big guitar riffs and even bigger hooks, while the vocals alternate between aggressive shouts and powerful singing. With, almost always, a ton of anthemic quality. Which is exactly what we get with opening track, Happy Hell. A lively and lovable hit that will get the head banging away, hard.

The EP features two guests, and the first is Bleed from Within’s Scott Kennedy on the sharp electronica focused track, Bloom. A piece of music with a dark and dangerous vein of intensity running though it, which erupts impressively near the end. The second guest is Mikey Chapman of Mallory Knox fame, and he lends his impressive voice to the energised blast of melody-laced rock that is Good Day. Two quite different, but equally notable Call Me Amour tracks.

The anthems just keep coming too as Where’s the Chemistry features a blend of potent riffs, hyperactive vocals and melodic vibrancy. An explosion of drums near the end is a particular high point of another fabulous track. Alas, all good things must come to an end, and with Dreams, Call Me Amour add a touch of tenderness, while still having an incredible amount of power to their infectious rock sound.
