EP Review: Durge – Dirge (Self Released)
Durge was formed in Cape Town, South Africa in 2016 by Mark Ellis, Francois Taljaardt, James Lombard, and Heinrich Wesson. Over the past two years the band has been forging their unique sound that they call “Melandelic Rock”, a fusion of melancholy and psychedelic sounds. They’ve recently released their debut EP titled Dirge.

Reclining on the shores of the Baltic Sea is the hometown to Ocean Districts, a heavy, progressive and sludgy post-rock sound. Doomtowns is their new EP and considers the nuclear tests conducted by the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cold War-era, taking a more solemn and political approach.

EP Review: Grant The Sun – Simmar Ur Bild (Mas-Kina Recordings)
Featuring members of Insense and Beaten To Death, Grant The Sun is a trio from Norway playing an instrumental metal sound influenced by the likes of Devin Townsend, Extol and Meshuggah. They released a self-titled EP a little over a year ago and Simmar Ur Bild sees Grant The Sun picking up where it left off. The EP will be out on November 30th 2018 via Mas-Kina Recordings.
