Pathos & Logos – Let Me Go
Alternative, and progressive metal power-duo (guitarist Kyle Neeley and drummer Paul Christiansen), Pathos & Logos are back with a brand-new single called ‘Let Me Go’, due to be released on February 14th, 2025. The single features two alternate versions (Hunter’s Moon Version and an Instrumental Version) and is the first taste of the band’s new release, ‘Gospel’.
‘Gospel’ will be released on June 20th, 2025, and is the much anticipated follow up to the power duo’s acclaimed 2022 EP of instrumentals, ‘Cult’.
They’re back and holy heck, is this an evolution. Not just because their instrumentals are so much more accessible, but because of the fact that we now have vocals. Yes, Pathos & Logos have introduced vocals, utilising both band members’ voices and lyrical content than draws from their extensive lore.
Here, they offer up a melody-laced effort that blends vulnerability and power. At times, you’ll feel yourself sinking into it like a deep and comfy cushion, whereas, at others, you will sit bolt upright as a heavier, and more intense sound emerges. All while having progressive twists and cinematic flair. It’s incredible, and that it comes with two other versions that each have a unique vibe, is so much more exciting. Gospel is going to be special.
Summoners – Spite
Summoners, an alternative rock band from the south of the UK, will release their new dark dance-alt rock track ‘Spite’, in all its evil glory, on February 14th, 2025, as an anti-Valentine’s Day release.
A groovy dance floor filling alternative rock track, Summoners have gone all out to make this sexy beast an appealing listen to just about all. Not only nailing the energy, but the catchiness. It’s more of a shout-along, rather than a sing-along, but that doesn’t diminish the fun factor. Check it out here.
Imperial Triumphant – Pleasuredome
On 21st March, avant-death metal trio Imperial Triumphant will release their sixth full-length, ‘Goldstar’, via Century Media Records. The latest single ‘Pleasuredome’ (featuring the ominous spoken vocals of Tomas Haake, plus drumming legend Dave Lombardo) is out now.
Imperial Triumphant comment:
Journey into sensuality and primal desire, where the flesh becomes a temple, and the hunt for passion unfolds like an ancient ritual. The ‘bell rings out’, a summoning call to transcend ordinary pleasures and enter the ‘Pleasuredome’, a place where the divine and the animalistic merge.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but this new Imperial Triumphant track is weird, but bloody hell, it is wonderful too. It’s also the band at their heaviest (in places), and while the two guests might seem out of place, they are incorporated really well and add their own touches of madness to things. Is that Samba crossed with Jazz? Just another immense example of the Imperial Triumphant ‘s avant garde style.
Regal Cheer – Crumbs
Regal Cheer, the two-piece indie/punk band from Brighton, will release their second album ‘Quite Good’ on May 2nd, 2025, through Ugly Twin Recs. The second single from the record, ‘Crumbs’, is out now. It tells the story of the breakdown of a friendship, you can start off by thinking someone totally gets you until their true colours show themselves and the whole episode wasn’t worth the positive memories you’ve made with that person.
A short blast of lovable punk rock, Regal Cheer’s new single gets the foot tapping and the head nodding quickly. All thanks to dynamic rhythms and diverse showcases of vitality. It’s another memorable listen, and come the end, few won’t be able to deny the pull of those group vocal shouts. Check it out here.
Dawn of Ouroboros – Slipping Burgundy
Dawn of Ouroboros has shared ‘Slipping Burgundy’, the second single to be taken from their forthcoming third album, ‘Bioluminescence’, which is set for release via Prosthetic Records on March 7th. The Oakland, CA blackened progressive metal band has shared an accompanying music video for the track, taking primary influence from the recently departed legendary filmmaker David Lynch.
Who doesn’t appreciate some jazz mixed in with their metal? Oh yes, this is a very unique track and one that shows off the immense power that Dawn of Ouroboros has. The contrast is amazing, and how they smoothly transition into something heavier, and darker, is delectable. You won’t believe (unless you already know the band) how intense this one gets. It’s a work of art, and not just because it comes with a classy video either.
Iron Form – Become the Blade
Metalcore titans Iron Form have unveiled their debut EP ‘Cut from Cold Blood’, out via Church Road Records 21st March 2025. The first single from the EP, ‘Become the Blade’, is out now.
A heady blast that utilises melody in impressive fashion, while showcasing intense vocals, this new single from Iron Form quickly grabs the attention and holds it tightly for over four-minutes. Unlike a lot of their contemporaries, Iron Form take their time here, and then put harmony front and centre to give their metalcore sound a fresher feel. Check it out here.
Knives – The Dagger
Bristolian noise collective Knives have announced that their debut album, ‘Glitter’, will be released on Marshall Records on 2 May 2025. This announcement coincides with the band’s new single, ‘The Dagger’, which addresses—through gritted teeth—the cultural divide immigrants encounter upon arriving in the UK and how the rise of extremist right-wing political influence fosters a hostile environment for those searching for a better life.
A short, punchy, and effective piece of music that showcases a band genre-bending to such a degree, what they’ve created can proudly be called unique. An over-used word, but one that suitably applies here. A little bit hardcore, a little bit post, a little bit punk, a little bit rock, and even a little bit jazzy, most of all, it’s alternative music for alternative minds. Open yours, and you will find a very special track.
Eville – Plaything
Eville, the Brighton-based trio, is already surpassing expectations after being chosen as Alyx Holcombe’s One to Watch for 2025 with their first release of the year, ‘Plaything’.
Vocalist/Guitarist Eva Sheldrake says:
In true Eville style, Plaything incites a riot of huge melodic pop choruses interwoven with hard-hitting, edgy verses. The track also marks a pivotal point in our career, exhibiting our expansive versatility and how fearless we’ve become as songwriters as we incinerate the boundaries of our sound.
Eville are killing it as of late, and their momentum shows no signs of slowing down, not when they’re delivering bouncy and anthemic hits like this. The kind of peppy dancefloor filling sound that just about everyone can fall in love with. Especially when it comes with so much heart and soul too. What a band. Check it out here.
A.N.J.A. – When You’re the Worst You’re the Best
Belfast-based horror garage punk band A.N.J.A., known for their explosive live performances and unapologetically raw sound, has release their newest single, ‘When You’re the Worst You’re the Best’, just in time for a rebellious Valentine’s Day celebration.
The sexy and sleazy sound of Valentine’s Day, from an alternative angle, AN.J.A. is bringing the groovy punk rock rawness to welcoming ears with this energised banger. A developed sound that looks to be more anthemic, there’s no denying the pull of Anja’s vocals, and the chorus is one big singalong. Yet, what really stands out is the punk rock rawness. It conjures up images of grotty dive bars where you can smell the sweat and taste the incense.
Landmvrks – Blood Red
French metalcore stars Landmvrks have unveiled their latest single, ‘Blood Red’, taken from their forthcoming fourth album, The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been, set for release on 25th April via Arising Empire.
The official music video for ‘Blood Red’ is set to premiere on 20th February, promising to bring the track’s haunting themes to life visually.
The band comment:
‘Blood Red’ continues to develop the story and the protagonist of this album, who wanders and ages in the dark world he has created for himself. Still centered on themes of fear and confinement, he begs the gods to bring him back to life, back to reality. His tears are now stained blood red.
Poetically melodic, with modern alternative crossover elements, and featuring the innate passion that this band is famous for, this new single is a banger. Not only is it catchy, but it’s heartfelt, features French lyrical content, and goes wild about the halfway point. Suddenly, unexpectedly, you can pit to it, even though it comes with plenty more heart-wrenching power. Check it out here.
So Far So Good – Hangnail
London HC-crossover band, So Far So Good are set to release their new single ‘Hangnail’ on February 14th, 2025, via Braeburn Records. Following on from their debut EP last November, So Far So Good continue to make as much noise as possible in their own way. Fully written, recorded, mixed and mastered by themselves the new track brings elements of hardcore, swancore and metalcore all together.
Described by vocalist Dan, the song tries to encapsulate the feeling of moving forward but still being stuck in the same place:
As far as our songs usually go, this strays the furthest away from anything I think we expected to make when we launched last year. It’s a story I think people will resonate with – you feel like you’re moving forward, doing great things. But there’s this voice in the back of your head that can’t help but tell you you’re in the exact same place. Whether you’re sitting in the same room you were a year ago or on a stage somewhere playing to 150 people.
If you’re familiar with this band already, then you’ll have some idea of what to expect from this track. Specifically, the fact that the band go hard and go very heavy, not just from a hardcore perspective, but from a metal perspective. So Far So Good are more of an amalgamation of influences, and that helps make them stand out. Especially when they’re delivering a hefty banger like this. It bleeds intensity, even with a midpoint drop where we get EDM and near whispered vocals (this will likely work better live than on record), as it allows the band to take the track in a different direction, incorporating melody, and ending things in explosive and chaotic style. They’re evolving, and that’s exciting.
