Horror Short Review: Don’t Look Man (2026)

Written and directed by Andres Wallis, Don’t Look Man combines the terror of supernatural horror with the terror that so many women feel when out late at night, alone.

Francesca Wallis plays Jessica, a young woman out for a late-night jog. As she is heading home, she notices the figure of man standing across the road with his back to her. Innocent enough, right? He’s just standing there, so why is Jessica immediately nervy? If that’s what you think, ask your mother, sister, daughter, female friend etc, why Jessica suddenly feels anxious. This here is true horror and both the director, and the actor, perfectly capture her unease.

As she moves further away, she can’t help up steal a quick glance or two back, and somehow, he’s closer now. She’s being followed.

A very unsettling short that is clever and creative, Don’t Look Man does a great job of balancing different aspects of horror while forcing the viewer to wonder just what they’d do in this situation. The one blemish on an otherwise good experience is that it doesn’t manage to stick the landing, with the character making a dumb decision near the end, which annoys. Not enough to ruin it, but notable enough to be worth mentioning. Still, I really enjoyed it and thoroughly recommend it.
