EP Review: Dohny Jep – No More Love (Favour The Brave Records)

No More Love is the fourth and final EP of 2021 from alternative-rock trio Dohny Jep. The four-track EP is due for release November 26th via Favour the Brave Records.

The year of Dohny Jep is ending and it would be a lie to say we didn’t feel a bit sad about that. The alt-rock trio have produced three outstanding EPs prior to this release, each one better than the last.

Smile, It Might Never Happen in February, Shallow is the Water in May and This is Love in August; it’s been a great series of releases from this band. However, they may have saved the very best for last with No More Love.

Kicking off proceedings with Floor Like Lava; the band’s fondness for layered effects, sweet melodies, big choruses, and hard rocking bursts of energy is ever present here. The “hey lads, what about this?” line and following flare-up of heaviness might be the coolest thing Dohny Jep have done. It’s great start that exudes passion, power, and poise.

Chose Life’s drum and bass style intro sets the mind aflame, but this is a track all about the cleaner melodies and singing. Poppiness and rockiness done right. Whereas Dial Up has another banger chorus, the sort that gets a crowd singing along loudly. Dohny Jep’s imagination and talent ensuring each track sounds like it belongs on the same record while still having their inventive alt-rock taste.

All good things must end and it’s with one hell of a banger that Dohny Jep close out this EP. A track that has the most expressive vocals and the most heartfelt melodies of the bunch. All while they deliver yet another chorus that you’ll simply fall in love with.

Did they save the best for last? That’s going to be up to you but in our opinion, they did. However, we’re talking about marginals here as this fourth EP is part of a series that can all rightfully be called excellent pieces of work.
