Album Review: Voldt – Vandalism (Self Released)

When both battle-vest donning traditionalists and sleek metal hipsters are weeping tears of joy, Voldt may well be involved. On their latest full-length offering ‘Vandalism’, the three German pacesetters gloriously careen between spectacle and a blow to the neck. Heavy metal has risen from the grave! And it’s more alive than ever. Be ready for April 8th, 2022 when the album is released.

An ode to the metal gods, Voldt proudly look to the traditions of old to create their own blast of power-driven heavy metal. Where, the word ‘classic’ is given meaning but is not the only notable thing about the album.

Voldt are filled with vigour and it shows across the 8 tracks of this album. From the riffs that move like a pack of panicking horses. To the hooks that come screaming out as though you accidently summoned up some Cenobites. To the chunky percussion thumps that shake the very ground you stand upon, and the vocals that soar with innate power and clarity. Voldt’s make-up is a heavy metal fan’s wet dream.

The end result is an album of bangers but in particular, the epic sounding Headless Haunted Hound and the melodic touches that are a major part of Monsters of the Sea. Just two tracks out of the eight that hit the hardest but overall, there’s little to complain about.

All you should want, especially when it’s described as a heavy metal album, is something that compels you to head-bang and raise a fist to the air in salute. Folks, it’s right here and it comes from Voldt.
