Album Review: In Malice’s Wake – The Blindness of Faith (Self Released)

Australia’s savage thrash/death veterans In Malice’s Wake proudly announce that their 4th full-length album The Blindness of Faith will be released on the 13th of November 2020. The Blindness of Faith is a journey into the dark side of religion, narrated by the harrowing In Malice’s Wake sound.

A sound that is rooted in feral thrash metal with a snarling death metal influence thrown in for good measure. The Blindness of Faith kicks up a storm from the very moment the title track comes screeching out of hell and doesn’t let up for over 50 minutes. It is as browbeating and stomach clenching as it sounds, the key word being ‘malice’.

The subject matter is certainly key to that as the dark side of religion is put under the spotlight. While that’s not exactly a unique proposition or something that is particularly interesting, these noise-mongers make it more attention-grabbing thanks to their remorseless and vicious approach.

Of course, none of this would matter if In Malice’s Wake were unable to convey their destructive capabilities through their instrumentation. Happily, they’re more than up to the task and consistently deliver bitter levels of bile-infused vehemence. Riffs that are razor sharp to the ears, drums that pulp the tender fragments of the mind, bass that crashes down with substantial force and vocals that are abhorrence incarnate.

Barbarity in the flesh. Tremble in terror at what has been unleashed here.
