Chasmdweller is an abomination of sound wherein death and doom metal, dungeon synth and power electronics are blended in a vile cauldron creating what can only be called pure filth. Their self-titled EP was released on April 18th 2019 and not hanging around they now have their debut album ready. Read our review of that EP here.
Invoking The Wrath Of The Seventh Circle will be released on December 13th 2019 via Static Void Records.
It’s a hell of a racket that Chasmdweller make on opening track Bleeding Upon The Tomes Of Hypocrisy. A loud and horrifying wailing wall of blackened death noise. With drums made from the bones of the dead, vocals straight from the mouth of a demonic force and riffs that would have the devil nodding his head in approval.
The pressure Chasmdweller put on doesn’t ease as Death Chant Emanation In The Hall Of Apparitions sounds even more raw and evil. It’s here we also get some of the more unique elements of Chasmdweller’s sound. A darkly shrouded descent into atmosphere.
The album highlight arrives next in the form of Caves of Endless Suffering. A track that betrays its initial savagery to showcase hidden depths of beauty. The grumbling horror show then continues into the bleakness of Light Bearer before Engulfed By Burning Pits hammers the heavy point in over and over again. The riffs and drums enough to turn the mind into nothing but jelly.
A hellaciously heavy and intensity driven album from the moment it started. The doomy drawl leading to the continuous assault of death doesn’t abate for the title track. All leading to a truly dark and spectacular finale of doom and death.
