Weekly Release Roundup: Monday 24th Feb 2025 – Saturday 1st March 2025

From progressive rock to punk rock, to miserable black metal, brutal death metal, and alternative, it’s a big week for releases and we’ve got a list for you to check out. All these releases are out this week!

Everon – Shells (Music Theories Recordings)

A return like no other, not only turning back the clock, but sounding fresher than ever, Everon’s legend grows and it’s all thanks to a uniquely expressive album. One that nails the highs and lows of their progressive thinking, infused with melody, and plenty of anthemic rock moments.

Ofnus – Valediction (Naturmacht Productions)

Beautiful misery. Two words that don’t belong together, but two words that summarise this new Ofnus album, and the band itself. Wrapped within a black shroud, it might seem as though an album like this offers little more than extreme heaviness and wicked intensity, but it has deep and dark depths that create a more emotional experience. The more time spent in the company of Ofnus, the more music like this connects.

The Dead and Living – Damage (Rexius Records)

Four tracks that showcase a staggering level of dynamism and vibrancy as The Dead and Living evolve. Their goth rock roots are still showing, but they’re not quite as prevalent as they have been. This is part of the modern makeup of The Dead and Living, who have refused to stagnant, and through renewed focus have found a fresh outlook on their sound.

The Five Hundred – Ghostwriter (Prime Collective)

Exceptionally powerful and eccentrically clever, The Five Hundred’s new album is captivating stuff. We all fall under their spell, and their hold is so strong.

Blunt Knife Castration – Live Fast Die Slow (Self Released / Remorseless Records)

As ugly as it is mean, and it’s really f**king mean, Live Fast Die Slow is not for those who treat the extreme side of metal with fear and disgust. As much as it might genre-bend, it is wholeheartedly from the nastier side of life, and if you enjoy it, you might just be a little ‘wrong’ in the head.

Jizzy Pearl’s Love/Hate – Punk Rock Fiesta! (Kenyon Records)

Uncomplicated rock and roll with punk spirit and plenty of vigour, Punk Rock Fiesta! is every bit the Jizzy Pearl’s Love/Hate sound and style that fans have grown to love over countless years and releases.
