Nightwish – Yesterwynde (Nuclear Blast)
It’s a mighty Nightwish album and one that balances all aspects of the band well. For a band with a storied history as theirs, that’s not bad at all for a 10th album.

Never, Neverland needed some quality control, and not everything on it is worthwhile, but that doesn’t mean Unto Others haven’t delivered a good album, because they have. The good far outweighs the bad and fans are going to eat it up.

Mork return with icy fire in their veins. Delivering ferocious intensity, but with layers of creative melody and progressive twists.

H-A-N-N-A-H – Turbulent Velocity (Self Released)
The dynamism of this EP is on delightful display from the start and goes some way as to showcasing the ambition of H-A-N-N-A-H and the vitality of this mostly instrumental release.

Defiled – Horror Beyond Horror (Season of Mist)
Continuing their incredible run of brutality, Defiled return to the noisy fray with a brand-new slice of death metal intensity. A 14-track showcase of frenzied mania and bullish bloodletting. Where an ugly rawness permeates every inch of it, but rather than detract from the sonic savagery, it only enhances it.

This album might have been born from circumstances Void of Vision would have preferred to not happen, but that hasn’t stopped them using the trials to their advantage.

It’s a really likeable release showcasing a band with a ton of talent in their ranks. The more we get from Pythies, the better.

Steal The City – Road To Nowhere (Self Released)
Even on record, you can tell that Steal the City are a lively bunch and that their live shows are likely to be sweaty affairs. Capturing that energy, showcasing their hard rocking magnetism, and delivering catchy banger after catchy banger, Road to Nowhere is a hugely entertaining debut record.
