This week’s single slam features Lucifer, Goat Torment, Sick Society, Wax Mekanix, ATVLS, Feed the Corpses to the Pigs, Thy Art is Murder, Fardeaux, The Three Tremors and Whatever, Forever. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.
Trivium – No Way Back Just Through
The latest single from Trivium’s upcoming new album, In The Court Of The Dragon, No Way Back Just Through is out now.
Dare it be said that this is a more ‘old-school’ sounding Trivium sounding track? In that it follows the similar formula of verse, per-chorus, chorus and so on. That’s not meant in a negative way as this is one of the catchier and more groovy tracks they’ve released in some time. A chorus that you can sing along too, plenty of moments to head-bang too and plenty of that Trivium fire. It’s a bit of a banger track.
Lucifer – Crucifix (I Burn for You)
Lucifer, one of the hardest working and incendiary acts in rock music today, have unveiled yet another new offering from their upcoming new studio album. The band are thrilled to share the third single ‘Crucifix (I Burn for You)’ from their soon-to-be-released LP, Lucifer IV.
Hellish and so very sinister, Lucifer continue to make you feel like your part of some Satan-worshipping cult just by listening to their music. Rocking riffs, a solid guitar solo, a catchy chorus and of course, those twisted vocals. This is Lucifer at their most wicked and dangerous sounding but who doesn’t love that? Check it out here.
Goat Torment – Cursed
The Belgian blackened death metal stalwarts of Goat Torment are now releasing the third crushing track of their upcoming full length ‘Forked Tongues’! The new offering will be released upon the masses on October 29, 2021 and the track ‘Cursed’ is out now.
More black than death but combining the two genres expertly, Goat Torment’s Cursed is an unrelenting blast of heavy noise. The kind that makes you wince as you wait for some melody but it just never comes. That’s not the Goat Torment way, hyper and heavy from beginning to end, it’s a nasty but thoroughly enjoyable listen. Check it out here.
Sick Society – Sick Society
From the bowels of city turmoil, tired of a decadent and mediocre humanity governed by false values, money and power, Sick Society think it’s time to get out from their offices and bring people their original primitive metal.
This is a sick society and it’s a little more than two minutes old-school thrashy/punk-infused noise. Pure head-banging and circle-pitting gold, Sick Society are baring their teeth and demanding you wake from your stupor. It’s serious stuff but a hell of a lot fun, simply because its so damn addictive. You just want to head-bang and head-bang and head-bang until you’re ready to throw up.
Wax Mekanix – Head
Wax Mekanix will be teaming up with Troll Teeth for a split EP called ‘Blunt’, due for release on October 22nd, 2020 via Electric Talon Records. In the meantime, Wax has released a single from that EP called ‘Head’.
The rock sensibilities of Wax Mekanix really appeals. The unique and eclectic style of his music, imaginative and worldwide influences, there’s always something to enjoy and Head shows that this upcoming EP is sure to please. A foot-tapping rhythm, a catchy as hell chorus and the best thing of all, Wax’s impressive vocal range… Head is a fascinating listen. It’s also saying something but the joy is finding just what that is yourself. Check it out here.
ATVLS – Nazareth
Regional Victorian head crushers, ATLVS, are unleashing their brand new single, Nazareth. It explores toxic behaviour from selfish, manipulative people living with a ‘God complex’. The band explain that the new single:
Speaks on how we are fed up with this behaviour. It’s essentially a call out for those who think they can walk over people.
A solid and understandable message fits the aggressive metalcore noise of ATVLS perfectly and few will be able to listen to this and not have the desire to go mental. Hell, the breakdown alone is enough to spark an unexpected pit. It’s just over two minutes long but man, does it absolutely slay. Check it out here.
Feed the Corpses to the Pigs – I Drink Myself to Death
Extreme metal brutes Feed the Corpses to the Pigs have released new single “I Drink Myself to Death,” a track from forthcoming album This Insidious Horror.
How vile is this track? Rarely do you hear a song that makes you want to take a shower directly afterwards but here we are. The extreme noise mongers are reaching into the guts of grind, death metal, thrash and more to wave their entrails about. Calling it akin to having the corpse of a boar slammed over the head is being coy, this is like having a whole abattoir dropped on you. Check it out here.
Thy Art Is Murder – Hate
Thy Art Is Murder, one of Australia’s top-heavy exports, released their highly acclaimed second album Hate on October 19, 2012. The band have now released the music video for “Dead Sun” featuring Nico Webers of War from A Harlots Mouth. They also announced that they are releasing new formats of their sophomore album that will be released on November 5th.
As fresh as ever, if there’s one thing you can take away from Hate, it is that Thy Art have always and will always be brutal. The deathcore ferocity of this track is eye-watering, the band playing as fast and hard as possible. All while vocalist CJ roars and screams in his guttural, furious way. Careful head-banging to this one, you might do yourself an injury.
Fardeaux – Silver Crack
The black metal project, Fardeaux has released a brand-new single called, Silver Crack. It follows on from Tindalos released earlier this year.
11-minutes of discomfort. 11-minutes of worrying sounds and black metal ferocity, Silver Crack is a detailed blast of filthy and dangerous sounding noise. The kind that you know you should run from but find yourself drawn towards.
Savagely intense, horrifying in its structure and consuming in its length. The journey here is one pitted with threat and menace but it’s far too enjoyable to ignore. Check it out here.
The Three Tremors – Bone Breaker
The Three Tremors release their new video for single ‘Bone Breaker’, the first track to be taken from upcoming album ‘Guardians Of The Void’, out 5th November on Steel Cartel.
It’s great to have new music from The Three Tremors but it’s even better to hear the group as hot and heavy as ever. An energetic blast of heavy metal, the thrill of the varied vocals and peppy pace will excite the senses. It’s no insult to call this as heavy metal as it comes. How could it be? Just look at the names involved in this band – they are heavy freaking metal. Check it out here.
Just shut up and enjoy the head-banging class of this one.
Whatever, Forever – Ghost of Me
Punk rock Sydney-siders Whatever, Forever deliver the most refined take on their alternative punk sound with latest single “Ghost of Me” and team the release up with the announcement of the bands new EP, ‘Slowly Dying with You’, releasing Friday October 29th.
There’s a downbeat and dark descent to the overall vibe of Ghost of Me. It’s got massive distortion on the guitars, punchy drum beats and shoegazey style melodies. A combination that is infinitely appealing and Whatever, Forever shows just how strong their version is. Depressing? Music this good could never be so.
