Horror Short Review: Netflix and Chill (2023)
From ACMOfficial and Alex Magana comes Netflix and Chill, a horror short that takes the fun out of watching your favourite show.
Starring Farah Marwan, Sara Caldwell, and Elena Hollander. Erica is settling in for a night of binge watching the new series of her favourite TV show. She doesn’t get far before her friend calls to talk excitedly about the show. It’s here, that Erica makes the startling discovery that lying (even small ones) have consequences as her cookies transform into celery and carrot sticks.
Confused, she gets off the phone, and figures that it had been a long day. After all, what other explanation could there be?
Back to the show, but not for long, as a text message from her partner wanting to come over interrupts’ things. Desperately wanting to be left alone to watch the show, Erica comes up with another lie, this one much bigger and with darker consequences. A lie that seems innocent enough, until her mother starts calling.
Want to know what happens next? Check it out below.
A solid short that has a good and imaginative story. One with some lessons about lying, even if the consequences are extreme. While it’s not the scariest of experiences, it’s a scenario that many can relate to. You just want some time to yourself, so you tell a few lies to ensure that’s the case. What could be wrong with that?
