Everything You Need to Know About GhostWire: Tokyo

This game quickly caught the attention of many gamers since the latest action trailer was released. However, people were left with no clue other than it is a spooky supernatural game that looks amazing.

From the trailer, we could see that most of the Tokyo population is gone. There are many spirits creepily roam the city, and your job is to demolish them.

Let’s go through some things to get a better idea of what we can expect from GhostWire Tokyo.

What is Ghostwire: Tokyo?

This is a new game coming from Tango Gameworks, which was showcased on the Bethesda’s E3 2019 press conference. This is a game studio that is actually funded by Capcom, and they are responsible for games like The Evil Within 1 and 2.

If we look at their portfolio of horror games, we know that this game will be very creepy.

Release Date

According to recent rumors, we will see the official launch sometime at the beginning of 2021. Since the game was showcased on the PlayStation 5 reveal event, we can expect it to come out around the same time with the next-generation console.

How is the Gameplay?

This is not a survival-horror game that Tango Gameworks is known for. It is an action game fighting off monsters in Tokyo. We’ve seen a lot of creepy things in the latest trailer, such as headless schoolgirls and spooky child demons.

It is a first-person action game where you can use magical abilities that activate with hand gestures as your primary weapons. Basically, they’ve tried to combine karate moves and magic, which looks incredible.

From the trailer, we can see that there are various magic tricks possibly separated into divisions like fire, water, and electrical.

People who stream games as their full-time job are very excited to get their hands on this game.

What is the Story behind the Game?

The game takes place in Tokyo as you’ve probably already guessed from the title, and 99% of the population has vanished without any warning or explanation. Just like Thanos back in The Avengers, where he snapped his fingers and vanished half of the population from existence, only it is much more devastating.

As the main character, you will arrive in the city that may be responsible for the disappearances. Your job will be to track down the source and get the bottom of what’s happening using your special combat abilities.

The spirits are not the only enemies you will face on the streets. There is a group of people called the Visitors that wear Hannya masks, which are very mysterious.

Graphics and Audio

As we saw from the trailer, the game looks incredible. Since it is designed for the next-generation console, we could expect nothing else. The strangely attractive pixelated graphics are something new that is possibly the first time we’ve seen in a modern game.

It adds additional flavor to the game, making it even more eye-pleasing. The environment is very well designed. You are in a city that is shining from all the street lights, and you see suggestions here and there of people that used to live here.

The spirits are on the next level. At the first point, these game might seem like a casual horror game, but as you move forward is going to get very creepy. The design of the spirits is phenomenal, plus with the finishing moves, you will get extra close to them, which can freak you out.

Final Words

GhostWire: Tokyo is an incredible horror game that will put you on the edge of your seat. Following the incredible graphics, you will be amazed at how entertaining and creepy this game will get. The best thing is that they decided to go deep with the scary spirits that will make you run in the opposite direction as fast as a Kentucky Derby winning horse.

We just have to wait and see if this game is going to meet our expectations.
