EP Review: Yersin – Born Alone, Die Alone (Self Released)

Hailing from the barren Sundered Lands of the Northeast, Yersin are back with their third release, the ‘Born Alone, Die Alone’ EP, out July 10th, 2026.

Purveyors of grinding, gnashing, and gnarly noise, Yersin are back with one hell of a record. A seven-track EP that punches you in the stomach and slaps you around the head, but with a smile, and a promise that it’s for your own good.

Mean as f**k, angry as hell, and with a thick, dark vein running through it. Yersin’s new EP arrives in haunting fashion, courtesy of Born Alone and the ethereal voice of dreampop artist, Bernie Christie. It’s an atmospheric intro that perfectly sets up an eruption of eye-watering, stomach-churning, and a**ehole tightening noise via Wrath of a Merciless God and Steel Noose.

Yersin somehow sound heavier and nastier, combining the feral side of themselves with clear refinement that showcases a step-up from The Scythe is Remorseless. Where the intensity comes with an underlying touch of groove. Big up Swallow the Sun’s Juho Räihä who also delivers a blistering guitar solo in the latter track.

With Blasphemer, Yersin keep it short and very bloody sharp, before unleashing Urban Menace, a track with a potent infusion of hardcore punk that has the band reaching new levels of ferocity and wildness. It makes an atmospheric intermission like The Ceremony of Death somewhat welcome, even if it oozes dread and horror.

Finally, it’s Die Alone. A blistering last track that has Yersin spitting, snarling, and stomping with undeniable aggression. Its ferocity is balanced by an intriguing Sarah Jezebel Deva guest spot, yet the intensity never drops.

Come the end I suspect all anyone will remember is how the EP left their ears ringing for hours afterwards.
