EP Review: I Choose Violence – An Enemy to Life Itself (MSH Music Group)
Adelaide metal outfit I Choose Violence are set to release their new EP, ‘An Enemy to Life Itself’, on July 17th, 2026. The five-track release builds on the momentum of their 2023 debut ‘Trial by Combat’.

A vicious and angry sounding record that sits in the metallised hardcore and beatdown side of things, this one goes hard. Kicking off in a venomous way with the title track, I Choose Violence create undue carnage with a certain amount of worrisome glee. Delivering the kind of intensity that is clearly authentic, and the kind of fury that feels dangerous.
A feeling that only grows stronger thanks to the snarling aggression of Ashes of War, the stompy feral nature of Competitive Grief, and the punchy instrumental that is Sufferance. Three tracks that will leave you seeing stars, but three examples of I Choose Violence’s depth and variety.
Finally, it’s (RE)Dirge and if you thought I Choose Violence had hit the heaviest of highs already, you’ve not heard anything yet. This is a finale that will leave you feeling well and truly f**ked up. It ends though, and you just want to listen to it again and again. We’re all just gluttons for punishment, eh?
