Bloodstock 2026 Band Feature: Inscape

Where does the time go!? Once again, Bloodstock is right around the corner, and once again, it is shaping up to be one the best festivals of the year. Not just because there are a variety of bands spread across its main two stages, not just because it is packed with fun things to do, great food and drink to enjoy, and tons of likeminded people to experience it all with, but because it champions the future of the scene with its New Blood and EMP stages. Where unsigned bands, some handpicked, but most coming through the Metal 2 the Masses events, get to play the festival.

It can be an absolute gamechanger for a band to play the New Blood or EMP stages and plenty have gone on to bigger and brighter things. We know, we’ve been paying a lot of attention to that side of things for a long time now, and every year, tried to feature as many bands playing as we could. While we can’t promise that we will see all these bands at the festival, we can promise that you will find a wealth of talent should you wander over to either.

Who knows, you may even end up finding your new favourite band.

It’s almost time for BOA 2026, so it’s time to get to know some of bands who will be playing the New Blood Stage or the EMP stage. This is Inscape!

First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself. How and when did you get started?

The core of the band originally formed in 2013 as an indie/mathrock band with electronics! However, throughout the years, we have gotten heavier delving into a lot more of a metal base with more aggressive electronics when writing –  but at the same time, whilst trying to keep bits of the indie and math rock influences with in our tracks! This current lineup has only been together since February and we played our first show in the first round of the South Wales Metal To The Masses!

Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?

We kind of describe ourselves as very riffy with electronic breaks. We want to write tunes that have a lot of contrast in genres. We want to make you dance, throw down and sing along all in the space of one song! I guess the closest comparison would be Enter Shikari and new Don Broco. Northlane is also a big inspiration for us although we are no where near as heavy as them.

How has playing Bloodstock 2026 come about?

We won the South Wales Metal to the Masses competition! However, plot twist, we were knocked out in the first round. We were invited back in as a wildcard card due to what I vaguely remember as a band dropping out due to having a baby? From there, we were all determined not to waste this opportunity but at the same time, I don’t think any of us thought it was possible that we could actually win? So finding out we actually won was just so surreal. There were a few explicits yelled and I think we were pretty close to giving eachother love bites haha!  

What does it mean for you to play the festival this year?

It’s an absolute honor. It’s so incredible the support, a festival the size of Bloodstock, gives to smaller bands! It’s such a huge platform for a band like us, it really has inspired us and let us dream a bit bigger! The 25th anniversary has definitely made it feel a bit more special, the festival has sold out and the lineup is so unbelievably stacked – it’s going to be an absolute ripper!!

What’s the setlist looking like and can we expect any surprises?

We have just released a new EP so most of the set revolves around that but we also have 2 even newer unreleased tracks that we are adding into the set for this one! We want this one to be high energy and to really get the crowd moving! 

Who are you looking forward to seeing, provided they don’t clash with your set?

Northlane is our collective favourite band and we are currently booked on the same day as them which is typical, but at the same time, it’s quite sick to say that you have clashed with your favourite band at a festival! Leporus and The Scratch are also high on the list!

Ignoring the obvious (tent, sleeping bag, toilet roll, etc.) what’s one thing you should always take with you to a festival and why?

So hear me out, if it’s forecast to rain – puppy pads. Put them in the porch of your tent, stand on them when you go in to your tent and everything will be bone dry! I’ve always used them at festivals and they are an absolute godsend!

Because we are old and now get hangovers, electrolytes for hydration, vitamin b for energy and magnesium to help with sleep quality

Also, vibes, vibes are absolutely essential!

It’s post-set, you’re packed away and your press is all done. It’s finally time to kick back and relax, what are you drinking and what are you eating?

I think we may have too much adrenaline to kick back and relax after this one haha! Festival food is always so good these days, looking forward to seeing what’s available!
