Band Interview: Sweet N’ Juicy

Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with Portland rock band, Sweet N’ Juicy. All three members wear fruit suits and play high energy music about partying.

1. How did you get started as a band?

Sweet (the Banana): We actually tell that story in full on our hour-long concept record, “The Adventures of Sweet N’ Juicy”! Basically I hit the road, met Juicy, and then we found N’ at a party we were throwing in the warehouse. Nuts!

2. How would you describe your sound?

N’ (Nefertitipharoahsandramundusifilopolis the Pineapple): Songwriter funk, for sure! We’re just a couple of fruits playing party music. Listen and let us know who you think we sound like!

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

Juicy (the Strawberry): As a baby berry I really liked Beethoven, Gorillaz, Gershwin, and System of a Down. Recently Sweet’s been showing me Prince and Talking Heads, so for sure they have a huge influence. Also we dig RHCP, Zappa, and Ween. Good golly do I love some Ween.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

N’: As a pineapple I just go with the flow and take it easy!

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

Sweet: Makin’ babies.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

Juicy: We have a West Coast tour in February and a bunch of other shows coming up. We have a bunch of videos coming out this year, a few stories, all sorts of stuff! We’ll continue to write and play as much as possible and play those new songs to as many people as possible. That’s the plan so far, anyway.

Sweet N’ Juicy: Thank you GBHBL! Y’ll rawk!!
