Pulling members from current and past local bands such as Here Lies the Difference, Afterlife, She’s Buried Out Back, and Her Last Breath Owleye started as simple jam sessions and quickly turned into a project full of drive and camaraderie.
1. How did you get started as a band?
The band decided to start over free pie at Village Inn in Denver Colorado. After a couple years and some lineup changes we solidified a lineup mid 2015.
2. How would you describe your sound?
The easiest way to describe our sound is a nice blend of modern day metalcore and the great sounds of 2007 Post Hardcore.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
I would have to say our major influences are Underoath, Saosin, Chiodos, and Haste The Day.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
I think the rise of YouTube helps every single band world wide. Especially being a band in your local scene you have this awesome platform to be able to share your music to everyone world wide. It’s a cool feeling when you are unsigned and have someone message you from a different country telling you to come to there and play thanks to social media and everyone being connected. Especially for us we don’t care about the money we just want to share our stories and art with anyone that is feeling the same feelings.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I mean being from an awesome place like Colorado we do just about everything outdoors. Golf hike ski or go to a brewery we got it all.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We are working on our full length that we are going into 37 studios in January and some tours shortly after. Keep an eye on our social medias cause we are about to hit the scene like a storm.
GBHBL would like to thank Owleye for the interview & Stencil PR for arranging it. You can check out some of Owleye on YouTube as well as on their Bandcamp page where you can pick up their music. You can also follow the band over on Twitter and on Facebook.
