Formed in 2013, Ireland’s Raum Kingdom play what has been described as combination of Neurosis’ haunting post-metal with Tool’s dark and intriguing ambient-rock. They are set to release their debut full-length album ‘Everything & Nothing’ on June 1st 2018. An hour-long sonic journey of redemption and hope.
With haunting melody and distant screams, Raum Kingdom brings us into their world of post-metal and ambient rock. Summon is a very impressive start and Dig follows that up with a real dark rhythm and clean vocals that sound like an invite into hell.
Soaring landscapes of hostile environments and horrors around every corner…Everything and Nothing is an apt title seeing as Raum Kingdom certainly throw their all into the 7 tracks on show here.
Just look at the nearly 15 minutes of Winter as an example. A doomy start sees the band deliver their heaviest moments so far but it quickly breaks away into a mournful tone that changes the mood completely.
Everything & Nothing is an investment of an album. It’s not one you can just throw on and listen to a quick track or two. You need time to really take in everything Raum Kingdom are delivering here. Each track bleeds softly into the other making it feel full and complete. Each track takes the listener to places unheard off, unwilling to let go until safely through the journey together.
By time the more savage Hidden Pain hits, exhaustion is setting in but the motivation to push on still exists. The light at the end of the tunnel comes with Struggle, a truly epic track on an album that is filled with them.
Everything that Raum Kingdom have done so far comes together in a blazing finale that showcases the great ambience of the vocals and the consistently good post-metal rhythm that exists throughout.
