Album Review: No One Knows What The Dead Think – No One Knows What The Dead Think (Willowtip Records)

The definitive ending to the piloted bullet hell grind album series started in 1992, No One Knows What the Dead Think documents eight original stages plus a hard reboot of the Discordance Axis stage Dominion.

No One Knows What The Dead Think will be offered in limited production by Willowtip Records on vinyl in a gatefold format, optical in digipak and as digital only archive on September 20, 2019.

It’s unusual to get a grind album that is only 10 tracks long but fear not, No One Knows What the Dead Think aren’t betraying the roots of the genre. It’s only 18 minutes long and as intense as you could hope grind to be. It will literally grind your bones to dust and turn your brain matter into mush.

It’s nonstop for 18 minutes. So much so that it all starts to blur together and if it wasn’t for the brief silences between tracks and the words of Red Echoes, it really could just be one evolving beast of a track. As always, you kind of know what you’re getting with grind and that can go one of two ways. Either you’re in the mood for something that is nothing but chaos personified, angry at the world and intent on hearing something that showcases that or you’re not.

It’s not the best grind album you’ll hear this year but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. Especially if you accept it for what it is. No One Knows What the Dead Think is a pissed off record for a pissed off mood.
