Album Review: Beth Blade And The Beautiful Disasters – Mythos, Confession, Tragedies And Love (Beautiful Disasters Records)
Coming off the back of their first two albums, ‘Bad Habit’’ and ‘Show Me Your Teeth’, Cardiff hard rockers Beth Blade and The Beautiful Disasters are set to make a rousing return on July 8th with their new album ‘Mythos, Confession, Tragedies and Love’.
Speaking about the album, Blade had this to say:
This album is a confessional, a journey of survival, of tragedy. Our darkest moments exist, they deserve not to be hidden, sharing the pain helps with the burdens we all carry. It’s also a tale of love and hope, of taking our hardship and thriving despite the weight of our woes. You can be your own light. I am sharing my soul with you through these songs, each one a small piece of me, a piece of us, of our story. Confiding in you is our redemption.
With meaningful and impactful lyrical content and the voice to deliver it; Mythos, Confession, Tragedies and Love is an honest reflection of Beth Blade and The Beautiful Disasters’ mindset at this time. The album, filled with anthemic rock bangers, will make you want to get up and groove, while also having plenty of heart.
Groovy and accessible, the riffs of Sin Eater is an early highlight but this is also a track that features a massive chorus that really shows off the power of the vocals. Whereas something like the laidback radio-friendly rhythm of Tonight I’m With You and the emotive melodrama of Hold Your Heart showcase some of the variety on this album. All within the first half of the record and all thoroughly enjoyable in different ways.
If rocking energy, big riffs and catchy choruses are more your jam though, Beth Blade and The Beautiful Disasters have plenty of that. The second half of the album featuring the massive Undo Me, the exhilarating Trigger Warning and the pointed middle finger that is Still Not Asking for It. Just some of the moments that really see Beth Blade and The Beautiful Disasters excel on this album.
There’s no arguing with the band’s passion and ability to sound evocative and contemporary. An album like this will have wide-spread appeal and that can only benefit Beth Blade and The Beautiful Disasters.
