Horror Short Review: The Seeker (2025)
Written and directed by Matt Sears, a creative I have a lot of time for here, The Seeker is a short that cleverly, and effectively, blends supernatural horror with the real-life horror of buried childhood trauma.
Kelsey Cooke and Emma O’Dwyer are sisters, and it’s time to confront the past, specifically a monster they call The Seeker. Returning to their childhood home (now empty and up for sale) in the hope of proving that it was real, and the terror they endured as children wasn’t because of their father (David Houston).

Here, the pair are drawn into a nightmarish realm where The Seeker waits, and the truth is far more horrifying than anyone could have imagined.

The Seeker is an excellent horror short, not just because it deals with a very difficult subject in respectful, effective, and haunting fashion, but because it does so in style. It is a treat for the eyes and ears, especially with a cast that is incredibly strong, but it’s the story that will stay with you. This one, like everything Matt Sears does, is a must see.
