Top Ten While She Sleeps Songs

While She Sleeps are an English metalcore band from Sheffield. Formed in 2006, the group consists of vocalist Lawrence ‘Loz’ Taylor, guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh, bassist Aaran McKenzie and drummer Adam Savage. With one EP, three albums and the fourth just around the corner they have made themselves an institution of the British metal scene.

We here at Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are massive fans of the band and have reviewed many of their releases and live showings which you can check out here.

Sleeps 2

When it comes to choosing the ten best While She Sleeps songs we outsourced the job…sort of. This list comes from a guest writer (Daniel) who choose this favourites ahead of their sellout album release show at The Roundhouse in London. We’ll see you there.

10. Civil Isolation

You could say this song was the last of the “Brainwashed era” of While She Sleeps, it made the transition into You Are We known and it did it well. With a catchy chorus and some very nice riffs from Sean, Civil Isolation could be called one of the best on the You Are We record.

9. ANTI-SOCIAL

Ripped from the new record “So What?” Anti Social is well composed and has a very heavy breakdown at the end of the song, this mixed with some banging riffs creates for a very unique song outside of their style. This marks the end of the You Are We era for some fans of the band.

8. Silence Speaks

Boasted as While She Sleeps best and most famous song Silence Speaks comes in at a number 8. Bragging 19.2 million plays on Spotify. They combine a sing-along chorus along with some heavy lyrics being sung this does certainly create for a very, very good song.

7. Hearts Aside Our Horses

Taken off the first EP “The North Stands For Nothing” Hearts Aside Our Horses boasts a very nice opening riff. The whole band singing in unity makes for a great song.

6. Love At War

Starting off with a slow piano, some gang vocals and some background clapping Love At War brings a refreshing mix of heavy riffs and the Loz we all know and love.

5. Until The Death

A brilliant start to the song, Loz’s raspy screams make for a brutally heavy song with riffs that’ll have your head fall off from headbanging.

4. Four Walls

“Everybody dies with a debt! No silence!” This brilliant song creates some of the best gang vocals I’ve ever heard from a band. The entire band is singing as one and this, combined with Loz’s vocals make for a beautiful song.

3. Our Courage, Our Cancer

Somewhat like Love At War this song starts with a piano solo and kicks in after about 30 seconds after the main piano section. “From hospitals to honesty and everything you need of me I’ll be there.” Behind these cleverly written words the piano lingers creating a heart wrenching song. Held in the hearts of many big fans of the band.

2. Brainwashed

Kicking it off with “this is the resistance movement” really sets the stage out for the rest of the song. Heavy riffs and a very catchy chorus make for, in my opinion, one of their best songs.

1. False Freedom

I personally may be a little biased but False Freedom holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to While She Sleeps, at 2 minutes and 15 seconds in the guitars and drums halt and create for one of the best moments I’ve heard in a song. Everything stops and the entire band sings in unison for a moment that will stick with you. I remember the first time I heard it and so will you.

What’s your favourite!?
