It’s fair to say that most viewers will have certain expectations when seeing a title like The Cheerleader Sleepover Slaughter. It screams campy slasher horror with its tongue jammed in its cheek.
If you’ve seen one ‘nature gone wrong’ film, you’ve seen them all. No matter what the story is, who the characters are, where it is set, and what the monster is, they all follow a formula. A tried and tested formula that has existed for decades. Why deviate from what has worked before? Which is the attitude Deep Freeze (also known as Ice Crawlers) takes, much to its detriment.
We are back in Hell House again with Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire as the series looks to correct what went wrong in the second instalment and fails miserably.
Nobody in their right mind is watching a movie called Alien Shark and expecting anything but B-movie trash. So, it should come as no surprise to find that writer Aaron Jackson and director Paul Tomborello’s Alien Shark is trash.
If you thought a title like Underground Lizard People wasn’t a bad enough title for a movie, try Underground Lizard People: They’re Coming for You. It screams no-budget trash, and that is exactly what it is.
Continuing on directly from the first instalment, we are heading back in to Hell House for another round of frights and scares with Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel.
Written by David Reed, directed by Don Michael Paul, and picking up directly after the events of the Lake Placid 3. Lake Placid: The Final Chapter is not, as it goes, the actual final chapter.
From writers Carlton J. Albright and Edward Terry, and director Max Kalmanowicz, comes The Children (also known as The Children of Ravensback). A cheesy horror that has some entertainment value, but is far too slow, and far too unexciting to be anything but forgettable.
