Poison the Well – Trembling Level

Iconic metallers, Poison the Well are back. Not only signing to SharpTone Records, but releasing their first new song in fifteen years, ‘Trembling Level’.

On the one hand, this new Poison the Well track is a nostalgic trip that celebrates everything great about their metalcore sound. On the other, it’s a riotous display of infectious heaviness that promises to draw a ton of new fans in their direction. Especially as their potency is still there, and the concise approach to heaviness and melody is very effective. It’s a gift, and hopefully there’s so much more greatness to come.

Lucifer’s Child – Antichrist

Greek atmospheric black metallers Lucifer’s Child have announced their long-awaited third studio album titled ‘The Illuminant’. Out on March 28th via Agonia Records. The band’s return is marked by a new single, ‘Antichrist’.

The black gates of hell have opened again, and from the fiery depths emerges Lucifer’s Child, bringing destruction and devastation with them. This is the sound of extreme metal, and no matter how much horror-laden atmosphere is poured over it, it remains a dangerously dark and intense listen. It’s very cool. Check it out here.

Pvriah – Mammoth Stomp

Welsh newcomers Pvriah are ready to strike out to the masses backed by the release of their riveting new single and video, ‘Mammoth Stomp, which is out now. The intriguing trio deliver a genre-defying sound drawing from the dark sludge of doom to the shimmering soundscapes of psychedelia. With influences spreading from Kyuss and Pink Floyd through to Black Sabbath, Pvriah have the riffs, groove and guile to rise to the top of the UK scene.

Wearing those influences on their sleeves, while delivering some serious groove, blending thick doominess with sticky sludge, infusing psychedelic elements, and sounding larger than life while doing it, Pvriah sound pretty damn unstoppable here. It is a track that makes your body shake, sends jolts through the mind, and makes the soul feel buoyant. Awesome stuff. Check it out here.

Inhuman Nature – Possessed to Die

‘Possessed to Die’ is the new single from the UK’s shining light in thrash metal Inhuman Nature. It is the first single to be taken from their new LP ‘Greater Than Death’, out April 25th, via Church Road Records.

About the single, vocalist Chris Barling says:

I’ve never wanted to write a song about the ills of social media, but when you’re living in a time where misinformation is weaponized, being bombarded from all directions with death, war, crime…more death, when most people are skint and struggling to live anyway, it was hard not to. Feels like we’re Possessed to Die.

Get the neck muscles well and truly warmed up, they’re needed here. Inhuman Nature are back and back with an undeniable head banger that will put a silly smile on the face of all who like their metal to come with a snarl. Which this track does, a snarl and a f**king growl. It’s thrashy gold.

Halflives – Immortals

Having kickstarted 2025 by announcing her biggest headline shows to date and forthcoming festival appearances at both Nova Rock and Rock for People, Italian pop rocker, Halflives, has followed this up by releasing a defiant new single, ‘Immortals’.

Speaking of the new single, Halflives mastermind, Linda Battilani shares:

‘Immortals’ is a call for the minorities, the marginalized, the nonconfirmists and the rejected. It’s about defiance, resilience, and self-love. As a lesbian, I’ve experienced what it’s like to be part of a minority. Even being a musician can feel like that – society often doesn’t value art or understand what we do unless it fits into a conventional mold. It’s still not consistently considered ‘a real job’ and a valuable contribution to write and play music for a living.

In the music video, there are two girls who want to kiss, but they’re held back by the masses. It’s a literal representation of the song: no matter how much the world tries to suppress us, our existence is undeniable – an unstoppable force. Even if they ‘burn us’ and try to erase us, we’ll only become louder, more visible, and more real. Their efforts to silence us will only amplify our presence.

A triumphant sounding track with all the familiar Halflives’ anthemic qualities present, the refinement of the pop rock sound is what counts. Taking the accessibility of it all and enhancing that to the extreme. It has got some serious heart and soul, and its chorus will have most bouncing up and down victoriously. Check it out here.

Dead Harts – Waste Cadet

Fuelled by grief, anger, and pain, Dead Harts continue their intense run of single releases with their third offering, ‘Waste Cadet’.

Continuing to impressive, this latest Dead Harts single is an absolute beast, but that shouldn’t be much of a surprise. Yet, the feral stompy heaviness and brutish intensity still comes as such a shock to the system. Their approach is so unrelenting, but with that comes a mix of tempos that creates a degree of discomfort. Need a raucous display of guitars and drums? Vocals that roar with inordinate power, and even a guitar solo to convince you of this track’s greatness? It’s all there, and so much more. Check it out here.

Calyces – Swirling Towards the Light

Athenian progressive metal band Calyces have announced their brand-new album ‘Fleshy Waves of Probability’, which is out on 21st March. To celebrate the announcement, they have released their second single ‘Swirling Towards the Light’.

Says the band:

‘Swirling Towards the Light’ is the first track of our new album, and it was the first one we worked on when we started creating it. It’s probably the most challenging song to play on the record, and it has a vibe that reminds me of the old ‘Tardive Dyskinesia’ days (the band I had with Stavros Rigos, the current drummer of Calyces). Lyrically, the song dives into the journey of breaking free and discovering yourself in the unknown. It’s about having the courage to leave the familiar behind, riding the waves of change as we spin into uncharted territory, where home isn’t a place—it’s where you feel alive. The video was filmed in the same room where the album was recorded, at Ignite Studios in Athens.

A powerful progressive hit of adrenaline that shows off an exciting blend of character-driven chaos and eccentric melody. The balance of this track, especially considering it moves at a fairly frenetic pace, is fascinating, but Calyces nail it and keep the attention fully focused on what they are doing here. It is an enlightening experience and one that has infinite replay value.

Pravitas – Defragment

Leeds-based tech-metal outfit Pravitas have announced details of their upcoming debut LP, The Parasitic Divine, due 30th March via self-release, alongside a brand new single & music video titled ‘Defragment’.

A crappy day can be made instantly better by some tech death, and few bands deliver it in such an exciting way as Pravitas do. Really leaning into their heavy side, it crashes and smashes in style, and then the chorus hits. Can you say epic? If this is a sign of things to come, we’re looking at an absolute beast with this new album. Check it out here.

Anger Party – I Hope You’re Miserable

Alternative horror rock band Anger Party have made an empathic return with the release of their new single ‘I Hope You’re Miserable’. The vindictive new single which is out via Silent Cult see’s Anger PRTY invite you further into the twisted corners of their menacing world – one that continues to edge ever closer to the tipping point.

A big sound, one that demands you bang your head, but don’t be afraid to shake those hips either. Anger Party have the ability to make you do both, and do it over and over again. It’s a bit funky, filled with excitable heavy rock vibes that give it a more alternative feel, but really kicks ass with the chorus. Check it out here.

Behemoth – The Shit Ov God

Extreme metal giants Behemoth have revealed the title, cover art and release date of their upcoming new opus, ‘The Shit Ov God’, which is due to be released on 9th May via Nuclear Blast Records. Alongside the band’s 13th album announcement and title track, which is streaming now, they’ve also released an opulent music video.

Founder and frontman Nergal comments:

I’ve reached a point in Behemoth’s journey and my own creativity where words and statements mean less and less. The true essence of who we are and what we stand for lies in our music, our art, our visuals, our sounds, our performances, and the ways we connect with you. I deeply believe Behemoth represents transcendent, timeless art.

The number thirteen—so magical and significant. If this were to be our final album, I could say I die a proud man. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the most refined, purest representation of Behemoth. No filler, no excess—just the very best we have to offer, handed to you.

Have you been listening to Behemoth over the past decade or so? If the answer is yes, then you’re going to find yourself on very familiar ground here. Albeit, with a controversial take that, if I’m being honest, is a little cringy. Ignoring that factor, the simple truth of it is this track is very lacklustre overall. Ticks all the Behemoth boxes, but offers up nothing fresh or exciting, it’s basically the same thing they’ve been doing since The Satanist.
