Today’s single slam features Textures, Naø, Fortitude Valley, Six Year Silence, and Seven Blood. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.

Textures – Closer to the Unknown

Dutch progressive giants Textures have signed to Kscope & shared their new single ‘Closer to the Unknown’.

Speaking about the new single, the band share:

‘Closer to the Unknown’ is one of the most direct and hard-hitting tracks we’ve ever written – and also one of the most straightforward songs on our versatile album that we’re currently working on. It is showcasing one of the iconic new elements on this record: the prominent synths and sound design that really added to our new TEXTURES sound.

As exciting as ever, as eclectic as always, and delivering complex, but listenable, progressive metal effortlessly, Textures are back and back with a beast of a track. One that is surprisingly direct but filled with nuances that give it layers upon layers of detail. It’s smart music, but not to the extent that it requires study. Big melodies, mighty heaviness, a soaring chorus, and even a guitar solo, it’s a track that keeps on giving.

Naø – Funny Bone

After a five-year hiatus, songwriter and artist Naø makes her solo debut with her new single, ‘Funny Bone’, a re-imagined version of a track that first echoed through the Midsouth metalcore scene a decade ago.

Originally recorded and performed by her band, You the Few, ‘Funny Bone’ instantly became a fan-favourite – an anthem of emotional unrest that’s now reborn.

Naø shares:

This one has followed me for ten years, and I couldn’t seem to shake it. After so long, I felt like I owed it to myself—and the song—to give it a second life with a new arrangement and new perspective.

A gorgeous piece of music that puts the focus on melody. Deep and dark melody with a cinematic twist. As compelling as it is, especially how it develops and blends with a robust, heavier twist, it’s the immense vocals that stand out the most. Naø is talented, able to showcase vulnerability and strength in equal measures, creating a sound that is very addictive. It’s an excellent track and, hopefully, a sign of what is to come with Naø as they explore their solo side. Check it out here.

Fortitude Valley – Video (Right There with You)

Northeast indie-rockers Fortitude Valley will release their brand-new single ‘Video (Right There with You)’, alongside a video, on Tuesday 24th June. It is the second single from their upcoming album ‘Part of the Problem, Baby’.

Vocalist and songwriter Laura Kovic comments on the track:

The song is about trying to get inside the head of someone you love, and how hard it can be surviving together in what feels like an increasingly hostile and scary world. It also plays into the central theme of the album, which is about feeling distant from people you care about, both literally and figuratively.

Effortlessly infectious, delightfully heartfelt, and as potent as ever, I am more convinced than ever that Fortitude Valley are incapable of not writing exceptional indie rock and pop bangers. I love this. The melody is sweet, it has energy, the vocals are soft, but commanding, and the chorus is an ass kicker. Another excellent Fortitude Valley effort. Upon release, check it out here.

Six Year Silence – Invincible

Glasgow alternative-metal four-piece Six Year Silence have unleashed their brand-new single ‘Invincible’, now streaming on every major platform alongside a hard-hitting cinematic video.

Says vocalist Johnny Malice:

‘Invincible’ is about pushing through the struggle, whatever that struggle looks like. For me, it came from wanting to be there for someone I love while they were going through hell. It’s the promise that you won’t give up on them, no matter how hard it gets, and the realisation that the fight can make you stronger too. Writing it helped me process my own darkness without even realising it at first. In the end it’s a song about hope, about rising together and refusing to let the shadows win.

A compelling blast of alternative metal delivered in a classy way, Six Year Silence’s new single has punchy groove, huge sounding vocals, dramatic melodies, and an infectious chorus, It’s a banger that gets stuck in head ensuring you’ll be humming it for hours afterwards. Check it out here.

Seven Blood – No Breakout

German-based alternative outfit Seven Blood have revealed their brand-new single ‘No Breakout’. The track is the latest to be taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album ‘Life Is Just a Phase’, set for release on 21st November 2025.

Speaking on the new single, vocalist Azaria Nasiri shares:

With ‘No Breakout’, we want to remind everyone that mental battles are often the cruelest – precisely because they can be so invisible to outsiders. However, the song also aims to emphasise that it’s more than okay for those affected to ask for help. There will always be a way to break free from this inner despair, even if it might not feel that way in certain moments. Opening up to others is often the first step out of that self-made inner prison.

A sharp and melody-laced jab to the temple, Seven Blood’s anthemic ways are on full display and it’s a powerful showcase of their alternative talents. Oozing moody atmosphere and featuring a big chorus, this one hits hard, especially from a lyrical perspective.
