Single Slam: Anthrax, Sea Sleeper, Sublime, Catch Your Breath, and Saint Agnes!

Today’s single slam features Anthrax, Sea Sleeper, Sublime, Catch Your Breath, and Saint Agnes. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.

Anthrax – It’s for the Kids

Multi-GRAMMY® award-nominated New York heavy metal titans Anthrax will unleash their long-awaited 12th full-length studio album ‘Cursum Perficio’ on September 18th via Nuclear Blast Records and Megaforce Records (North America). It marks the band’s first record in ten years since 2016’s ‘For All Kings’. For Cursum Perficio’s first single and video, ‘It’s for the Kids’, is out now.

Dragging old -school thrash into the now, kicking and screaming, Anthrax are back and with plenty of anthemic fire in their bellies. A reckless and energetic sounding head banger with chunky guitar tones, hooky bass lines, a rampaging solo, and some powerful vocals. I dig it.

Sea Sleeper – Manifestor

Sea Sleeper has return with ‘Manifestor’. The latest preview of their forthcoming sophomore album, Burden of Antlers, set for release on September 18th, 2026.

Take a very big breath, because Sea Sleeper are going to drag you down into some really deep and dynamic depths with this incredible effort. A track that shifts and shimmers in captivating and confusing fashion, genre-bending to the extent that it becomes unrecognisable beyond being another slice of brilliant madess from Sea Sleeper. Truly, a one-of-a-kind band and a track like this showcases that uniqueness in all its glory. Check it out here.

Sublime – Can’t Miss You

Sublime have released their latest single, ‘Can’t Miss You’, from their upcoming album Until the Sun Explodes, arriving June 12th on Atlantic Records.

Jakob Nowell (vocals) says:

We just wanted to drop this one for the hardcore fans. No lead in or marketing push behind it. Can’t Miss You is probably my favorite track on the record. It was one of those magic songs that got written in a day. The strange chord progression was definitely inspired by my father’s songwriting, especially songs like Pool Shark and STP. Classic Sublime always had this feeling like you never knew where the song was going to take you. I look towards my father’s work for guidance at every turn, and Can’t Miss You is a perfect example of that. The lyrics of this single are some that I am the most proud of. I hope people will find escape in the stories of this song and the entire record Until the Sun Explodes.

As timeless as ever, Sublime are back and those of a certain age might find themselves having a bit of nostalgia overload with this infectious banger. It’s the sound of summer, the good vibes, but also introspective, and with some powerful emotion running through it.

Catch Your Breath – Control

Catch Your Breath are continuing their momentum with the announcement of their forthcoming album, ‘Not Broken Enough’, due out 28th August via Thriller Records. Alongside the announcement, the band have released their new single ‘Control’.

Speaking about the new single, vocalist Josh Mowery shares:

This song is for anyone who’s ever given their whole world to someone, only to realise they’ve accidentally handed over the keys to their own prison. It’s about that devastating moment you realise the person who was supposed to be your safe harbour is actually the one keeping your head underwater.

A tight anthem that sits comfortably amongst the modern batch of alternative rock and metal bands like Bad Omens and more. Dramatic melody, potent rock flareups, and brash moments of metal intensity, layered with atmospheric effects, it’s a cool listen. Check it out here.

Saint Agnes – Get Them Out

London’s Saint Agnes herald the arrival of their ‘Your God Fearing Days Are About to Begin’ album, released May 29th via Spinefarm, with new single/ video, ‘Get Them Out’.

The video is a direct homage to Nine Inch Nails’ March of the Pigs video.

Frontperson, Kitty A. Austen, explains:

I wrote ‘Get Them Out’ for a friend who would listen to the bullying and the antagonistic voice in his head and believe it. I wanted him to see himself the way I do, as a beautiful person, and to treat himself better. This is my favourite riff on the record, it’s a constant, revving build-up of tension, like an agitated, mental state that allows for no comfort or resolution. This was the first song that Jim Pinder (Sleep Token, Bring Me the Horizon) mixed from the record, and it set the blueprint: crushing, spitty industrial balanced with expansive, melancholic beauty.

A love letter to March of the Pigs is a bit of an understatement, and it’s bloody fun. Especially as it’s a track shaped by Saint Agnes, which means there are twists and turns aplenty, and the result is going to be iconic. Which it is. The chorus, in particular, is fire.
