Bury Tomorrow – Waiting
Building on a huge touring run that saw the band visit their biggest ever venues across the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and Japan, Bury Tomorrow look forward to an even bigger 2025. Following the release of new singles (Let Go, What If I Burn & Villain Arc), the band return with ‘Waiting’.
The track explores concepts of perseverance and lessons learnt, as frontman Dani Winter-Bates expands:
Waiting is about rebirth, the sense of going through the fire to emerge from the other side. Lyrically speaking, it delves into the lowest points of our lives where everything feels weirdly centered around yourself and in some way your misery, whether that’s loss, self-loathing, or poor experiences.
The rebirth of Bury Tomorrow continues with mighty aplomb, and after several hot tracks, the group now turn up the heat with, arguably, their heaviest track yet. A snarling beast that features roaring riffs, pounding drums, furious vocals, and just enough anthemic touches to keep it accessible. By the end it does feel more like a Bury Tomorrow track, thanks to the clean singing in the chorus, but its intensity is undeniable.
Liliths Army – Eat My TV
Having recently signed to independent label Criminal Records, Liliths Army have announced their eagerly anticipated 13-track album, ‘Doll’. Which features a mix of fresh recordings and revisited singles, set for release on March 28th. To celebrate this announcement, the power trio who blend the best of lo-fi punk, grunge, and metal, have released the single, ‘Eat My TV’, a jab at garbage telly.
With a little weirdness, but a whole lot of wonderfulness, Liliths Army’s new track is a catchy ditty that bridges the worlds of garage rock and raw punk, all while having a distinct UK feel. It’s short and to the point, but memorable thanks to the lo-fi instrumentals and extra bite the vocals have. Check it out here.
Cwfen – Wolfsbane
Glasgow’s Cwfen (pronounced ‘Coven’) have announced that they will be releasing their debut album ‘Sorrows’ on 30th May via New Heavy Sounds. Now they have also shared a video for new single ‘Wolfsbane’, which according to vocalist/guitarist Agnes Alder is:
On the surface, it’s about poison. At its heart, it’s an ode to the untamed female rage that comes when the world tries to carve us into something smaller.
It’s time to get excited about Cwfen, if you weren’t already, and this debut album shaping up to be pretty special. No more proof needed than this dark and devious listen. Where gothic grandeur meets doomy intensity, and it all comes slathered with a sinisterness that is effortlessly beguiling. This is a track that will haunt your nightmares for days and weeks after hearing it.
Absolva – Find My Identity
Manchester, UK-based hard rock / melodic metal band Absolva have released their new single ‘Find My Identity’. Taken from their forthcoming album ‘Justice’, which is set to be released on May 16th, 2025. The new single features guest vocalist Ronnie Romero, renowned for his work with Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Elegant Weapons & more.
One of the most consistent rock bands in the UK, a new track from Absolva is always a reason to get excited, but when it features the immense vocals of Ronnie Romero, that’s something else. So, what do we get here? A kickass hard rock track with infectious riffs and vocal harmonisation that comes with so much power and passion. It’s a very likable track. Check it out here.
Eluveitie – Awen
As the release of Eluveitie’s new album ‘Ànv’ approaches, the band have now released their uplifting new single ‘Awen’. The track sees the band’s more traditional instrumentation at the forefront, shining a spot light on the Celtic roots buried within Eluveitie’s core.
The new album Ànv will be released on 25th April 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records. Eluveitie will hit the road again together with Arch Enemy, Amorphis and Gatecreeper in October 2025.
Eluveitie frontman Chrigel Glanzmann comments:
‘Awen’ is musically perhaps one of the album’s catchiest songs… sticking our necks out on pretty modern metal music, at the same time with a chorus coming in with that very traditional, mystically melancholic, solemn kind of ‘grandeur’, much like older Eluveitie songs such as ‘Of Fire, Wind & Wisdom’, ‘Slania’s Song’, or ‘Alesia’. Lyrically it time-travels some fairly bold lines off that several thousand years old mythological text Ànv is based on, into the modern age and makes them speak directly to us and our modern civilizations! We’re really happy with and proud of it and we hope you’ll like it as much as we do!
This is a huge track, evident by the epic use of traditional folk instruments, but along with that, it comes with powerful melody and plenty of metal ‘oomph’. Having the band exploring their Celtic roots and drawing upon ancient mythology proves to be an inspired decision. This not only a catchy track, it has also got depth. Check it out here.
FangSlinger – Bare Your Teeth
Rising from the depths of the outlaw underworld, British theatrical rock act ‘FangSlinger’ return with their latest single ‘Bare Your Teeth’. Accompanying the release is a striking music video with its abstract fever-dream of gothic western splendour that visually captures the essence of the band’s dark mythology. The imagery portrays the vampire curse consuming its host. A haunting representation of transformation, self-expression and rebellion against societal norms. ‘Bare Your Teeth’ is a battle cry for those who refuse to conform. An anthem for the outcasts, the wild at heart and those who dare to embrace their true nature.
Says FangSlinger himself:
This song is about shedding the masks society forces upon us. It’s about expressing your innermost self without fear of bearing your fangs and owning your power.
There is a sense that FangSlinger are beginning to find their identity, from both a sound and visual perspective. With the former they are still experimenting, but the core tenant of their sound is rock, hard rock, with energetic rhythms, punchy beats, and choruses that get jammed in the head. It’s a cool track that encourages the body to move, and who doesn’t love a bit of harmonica in their rock?
The Pretty Wild – Button Eyes
Rising metaphysical metalcore powerhouse The Pretty Wild have unleashed their new track ‘Button Eyes’ via their new label home, Sumerian Records.
Speaking about ‘Button Eyes’, the band shares:
This song is for anyone who’s ever felt objectified, used or controlled. It’s about the moment you consciously break free from manipulation and you sever ties with that toxicity for good. We used dolls as a vessel for this theme, mostly as a way to blend playful melodies and imagery in a way that lightens a heavy conversation topic. – Jules
‘Button Eyes’ explores the theme of disillusionment with life and the process of reclaiming personal power. The song cheekily pokes at the painful process of breaking free from the misleading beliefs that held us back and stepping into our truth. Essentially empowering ourselves by rejecting disempowering narratives that were imposed upon us. Personally, I love this one because it comes across fun, poppy, and superficial, but the irony in it, is that it’s the juxtaposition of all that at its core. – Jyl
Unsurprisingly, maybe, to most but this new The Pretty Wild track is an anthem, an easy to enjoy alternative anthem that combines pop and metal in an interesting way. The formula isn’t particularly fresh, especially as far as the chorus and heavier breakdown goes, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t thoroughly enjoyable, because it is, it really is. Check it out here.
HANABIE. – Momentary Lily
Harajuku-core trailblazers HANABIE. have released the official music video for their latest banger, ‘Tasty Survivor’. The track is the featured ending theme song for the new anime series ‘Momentary Lily’ available for streaming now on Crunchyroll.
Do you know the show? It doesn’t matter if you don’t. All you need to know is that this is a HANABIE. banger, and if you know this band (which you should), means it’s going to be uniquely clever. They’re doing very cool things with a combination of J-pop and modern metal, and a major part of what makes this such a banger is how well the fusion works.
Judo CHOP! – Fearless
Australian 6-piece melodic shred outfit Judo CHOP! have released their much anticipated first single ‘Fearless’ from the upcoming EP/Album titled ‘Cosmic Dust.’ ‘Cosmic Dust’ is a 2-part concept EP which in its entirety, will collate as an album. The first EP ‘Cosmic’ is due for release on the 11th of April 2025 via Canadian powerhouse label People of Punk Rock Records.
There are several noteworthy things about this track, but perhaps the most obvious is the energy it has. Judo CHOP! go the fast and frantic route, but it’s based more in a poppy, punky, rocking kind of world. It’s an amalgamation of lovable genres and the infectious elements that come them. Very memorable and very lovable. Let’s see what comes next! Check it out here.
Thornhill – Tongues
As the countdown to Thornhill’s highly anticipated new album ‘Bodies’ (out April 4 via UNFD) continues, the Australian heavyweights return with their latest single, ‘Tongues’. Following the explosive reception of previous single, ‘Silver Swarm’, the band’s new offering is a turbulent dive into the conflict between desire and resistance, surrender and defiance.
Speaking on the new track, Thornhill share:
‘Tongues’ explores the tension of being pulled between opposing forces—desire and resistance, surrender and defiance. In many ways, it reflects our own relationship with heavy music, the push and pull between being consumed by it or resisting its grip. The song’s atmosphere feels like an ongoing battle, shifting between aggression and restraint. Lines like ‘turning your tongue in two’ and ‘fingernails down the walls’ heighten this conflict, evoking the struggle to commit or break free.
The next stage of Thornhill’s evolution is becoming clearer, and here, they showcase their modern palette by taking inspiration from Deftones, but specifically Deftones from a more nu-metal era. Take that for what it is, there is no denying the ‘retro’ metal feel of the track, but Thornhill are a wacky bunch so infuse it with so much of their own personality, it’s fresher than ever.
