Beyond Extinction – Where They Gather

Essex’s own death metallers Beyond Extinction have announced the release of their long-awaited debut album and shared the anthropic title track, ‘Where They Gather’, and it is not for the faint of heart. The creative process of this album endured death, years of work, lineup changes and numerous setbacks. On the 26th September 2026 the result of three years of suffering and observations through the lens of nihilism is born.

On the anthropic new single and album announcement, vocalist Jasper Harmer comments:

‘Where They Gather’ is anchored to a groove-heavy arsenal of riffs that carries much of the song’s weight, being supported by speed and precision in its more surgical elements. The deep tuned guitars are allowed to swing open and wide in this track and fully display how low and sickening this album gets. The misery and chaos of the city centred in the album’s story is portrayed by this track through an autopsy of heavy organs.

Visions of a metropolis pulling the life from its inhabitants, both parasite and host. Suffocating fumes join the groans of their overpopulated streets and monolithic high-rise giants. Kevlar-clad keepers of order stamp on the throats of innocent children, having turned their guns homeward once the rest of the world had burned. Cement and asphalt are fertilised by tears, sick and soot. They crawl through the avenues of their bastardised home and plead to a tired and unwilling god to fix the falling buildings and spewing drains. When all other holes, nests and hives have been chewed into unrecognisable dirt, this is Where They Gather.

Oh, how exciting! It’s finally time for their debut album and I can’t think of a better way to announce this then with a track as brutishly heavy, darkly intense, and groovily lovable as this one is. Beyond Extinction aren’t just adept at crushing though, their music comes with nuance, and this track has a ton of varied ideas that makes it so much more powerful. One listen becomes ten very quickly and if this is a sign of things to come, this debut is going to be special.

ONI – Float

After a monumental start to 2025, alt-metal trailblazer Jake Oni has revealed his breakout project ONI will release a new EP, ‘Genesis Pt. II’, on August 1st. The record follows the critically acclaimed first chapter, Genesis Pt. I, that was released in January and will feature 6 riveting alt-metal anthems produced by writing partner and Spiritbox bassist Joshua Gilbert.

Commenting on the incoming EP, Oni says:

I am really proud of the Genesis EP, and writing it was very cathartic. As I released the songs and the fan feedback got stronger and stronger, I felt like I hadn’t finished saying everything with the first e.p and still had all these amazing songs that truly felt like a continuation of my Genesis story.

I hope the fans, find the message in these songs, and it helps them as much as it helped me.

Now, ONI reveals Genesis Pt. II’s first single, ‘Float’, with a video produced by Nick Hipa (ex-AS I LAY DYING).

Oni adds about the single:

Float is a beautiful piece of art that I hope everyone can find their own meaning in. I co-wrote this song with Josh Gilbert last year, I love how we added the pop influence to this emotional song. I’ve been excited to release it ever since we wrote it. This song is the first single off my PT II of the Genesis series.

Unbelievably anthemic and highly emotive, ONI continue their strong run with another banger that is so easy to love. Not just because it touches the soul, but because it has an accessibility that draws from different genres. Something that helps give it a fresher flavour overall. Be prepared to have this one stuck in your head for a while. Check it out here.

Trudger – Tethered System / God Rest

Returning after an eleven-year absence, one of the UK’s most exhilarating death metal infused sludge bands Trudger return with their brand-new album ‘Void Quest’, to be released on Vinyl, CD, Cassette and Digital formats on August 29th through rising label Floodlit Recordings (home to Pijn and Still). The first two singles, ‘Tethered System’ and ‘God Rest’ are out now.

Let’s start with Tethered System, a track that brims with virulent intensity from the start and doesn’t let up for four minutes. It’s a thick and moody effort, with both the instrumentals and the vocals drawing from very dark places. Yes, it’s heavy, but that’s not the ultimate takeaway. This one will leave you feeling troubled but addicted.

God Rest isn’t wildly different, but it is more complex sounding, especially from an instrumental perspective. It also has more melody, brilliantly twisted around the thickness of Trudger’s sludge-infused sound. It’s a heavier beast, and of the two, just steals it because it’s more rhythmically pleasing. Check them out here.

Entrails – Skin ’em All

Swedish death metal surgeons Entrails are back with a new studio effort titled ‘Grip of Ancient Evil’, to be released on 18th July via Hammerheart Records. The album’s third single, ‘Skin ’em All’, is out now.

Entrails comment:

Full throttle from the first second into a groovier part and a nice relaxed middle section, this song is a beast for the die-hard fans of the genre we play. Not modern, just simple old-school in the vein of the 90s.

As simple as it gets, this new Entrails track is a couple of minutes of straight-forward savagery, death metal style. Though, a touch of groove adds a potency that makes the speed and heaviness far more digestible. There’s nothing world-beating here, but who cares, Entrails smash, and smash very hard. Check it out here.

Superseed – Big Mistake

Weaving a gritty tapestry of hard rock muscle, garage-punk snarl, post-punk edge and a stoner fuzz haze, Superseed channels the raw energy of MC5, the desert groove of Queens of the Stone Age, the doom of Black Sabbath and the snarl of the Sex Pistols into a sound that’s all their own. They are gearing up to unleash their next beast, ‘Tremor’, via Savage Magic Records on 1st August 2025. The new single ‘Big Mistake’ is out now.

A blast of high-powered hard rock groove with layers of genre-bending creativity, Superseed are an attention-grabbing band and deliver something undeniably addictive here. Strong vocals, potent riffs, hefty drums, tons of rocking harmony, a chorus that proves to be a bit of a singalong, and a dusty layer of fuzziness, it’s a kickass track.

ACCVSED – Make Sure It Hurts

German metalcore outfit ACCVSED have unleashed the new track ‘Make Sure It Hurts’ from their upcoming debut ‘Dealers of Doom’. The album is set for release on 1st August via Arising Empire.

ACCVSED at their most emotional sounding but not lacking in passion or power. That’s the summation of this lovable metalcore banger, where melody is the focus, but ACCVSED deliver it in a way that cuts right through to the soul. The cherry on top? A soaring chorus. Check it out here.

Caustic Waves – Playing with Fire

Don’t give in to temptation – you’re ‘Playing with Fire’. Caustic Waves has released the second single form the upcoming new album, ‘Echoes’. Out in September 2025.

A little bit poppy, a little bit funky, a ton of alt-rock energy, and so many anthemic touches, this is a certified banger from Caustic Waves. One that embodies the late 90s alt-rock influences that are so important but really feels fresh thanks to unexpected structural twists and turns. It’s an ear-worm of a track, as all great alternative rock often is, and while I love the funky verses, the chorus is where it’s at. Check it out here.

Cult Burial – Collapse

Released on September 5th, ‘Collapse of Pattern, Reverence of Dust’ is the new single from blackened death metal band, Cult Burial. An album that traces the gradual decay of mind, identity, and ritual. From the first shudder of collapse to that final, ash-choked breath, it offers no solace. The first single, ‘Collapse’, is out now.

Let the darkness consume, Cult Burial are back and piling the heavy misery on thickly. Though, when it comes to this band, that just means we’re in for a treat and that is what we get here. A furiously intense treat that is as dark as it is heavy. Filled with death metal vigour, but with the wicked drama that black metal offers, it’s harsh, but it’s effective.

Mimi Barks – Crawling (Linkin Park Cover)

Following the release of her critically acclaimed debut album ‘THIS IS DOOM TRAP’, alternative trailblazer Mimi Barks returns with a haunting reimagining of Linkin Park’s iconic ‘Crawling’, released via Easy Life Records.

Speaking of the release, Mimi Barks, shares,

Crawling isn’t reborn, it remembers.
A raw phantom in the wires, a resonance of the silence Chester left behind.
Because some wounds don’t heal; they echo.

Wow! What a cover. There’s no touching the original, so Mimi doesn’t even try to be Chester, instead giving it her own twist while staying true to the feeling of the song. It’s hugely emotional, and Mimi sounds amazing. I love it, and it refreshed the track for me, which is the highest praise I can give it seeing as I am of the age where the original was overplayed to the point of annoyance. Check it out here.

Hammer – Trapped in a House with a Maniac

Hammer are set to have their defining moment with sophomore album ‘Trapped’. Out on August 1st. Following the immense first single/video ‘Basilisk’, the Scottish metallers are back with ‘Trapped in a House with a Maniac’.

Says Adam Poustie (Guitar):

We are all massive nerds about horror and gaming; we had a single, ‘From Beyond’, that was about Stuart ‘Re-Animator’ Gordon’s film of the same name, ‘Trapped In A House With A Maniac’ is a total 80s horror trope. It’s about someone going into a house and there’s someone in there that wants to kill them, but the hunter soon becomes the hunted.

It’s that total schlocky kind of vibe and it’s a fun one. A lot of people have gravitated towards it when we play it live because it has a very anthemic chorus to it.

Do you think you know heavy? You don’t know heavy, because here’s Hammer to wallop you around the head with actual heaviness that just happens to come with a delightful infusion of horror. An outrageous head banger with exceptional moments of instrumental flair and garish vocals that put a nice gurn on the face. Hammer – kings of making you gurn.

Lord of the Lost – Ghosts

Flamboyant German chart-toppers Lord of the Lost unveil ‘Ghosts’ – the new single from their upcoming studio album, OPVS NOIR Vol. 1, out 8th August 2025 via Napalm Records. The Hamburg-based outfit is joined by none other than world-renowned cellist Tina Guo, celebrated for her electrifying performances with Hans Zimmer and collaborations with heavy acts such as Kamelot, Beyond the Black and Sabaton.

Tina Guo commented on the collaboration:

Working with Lord of the Lost on ‘Ghosts’ has been an incredibly inspiring and fun experience. The entire creative process flowed beautifully, and it was a true joy to create art with such talented and wonderful individuals. I especially loved the cello battling with Chris! Their passion and vision made every moment memorable, and filming the music video together created an unforgettable energy and synergy.

Chris Harms (vocalist/guitarist) adds:

Tina Guo is not only a phenomenal cellist, but also one of the most wonderful and inspiring people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting in the music industry. Performing this song with her -and even playing the cello together – was incredible, both in the studio and during the video shoot. But I can’t wait to have her on stage with us live someday!

So dramatic, so colourful, so pretty, and so much fun, Lord of the Lost continue their epic run with another likable banger that makes the cello more metal than ever. It’s epic, but without an epic length, and over the top, without being a parody of cinematic grandeur. Check it out here.

Still in Love – Inherit

Post-hardcore stalwarts Still in Love have released their new single ‘Inherit’. The track is taken from their debut album ‘Recovery Language’, out 5th September via Church Road Records. Containing members of Dead Swans, Throats, Brutality Will Prevail, Last Witness and [ex] Bring Me the Horizon (to name a few!), Still In love is the brainchild of UKHC’s brightest talents.

About the single, vocalist Nick says:

‘Inherit’ lyrically sits at the centre of ‘Recovery Language’ for me. It’s about breaking generational patterns of trauma, facing your issues head on and looking inward to understand personal triggers in order to break toxic cycles of behaviour.

I have a really good feeling about this debut record, and it is all because of stompy, angry, and honest tracks like this. Where post-hardcore intensity meets metalised energy, wrapped up in a relatable message that encourages the listener to let off some steam. The ending is a bit unexpected, but I suspect that it will make sense on the full album. I can’t wait.

Abigail Williams – No Less Than Death

American black metal band Abigail Williams have revealed a new single: the closing track of its long-awaited new studio album, ‘A Void Within Existence’, set for release on July 18th via Agonia Records. The monumental piece titled ‘No Less Than Death’ clocks in at a little over 9 minutes.

Sold yet? Of course you are. Even before this track, Abigail Williams had made it abundantly clear that this new album was going to be up there as one of their best, and now, there can be no doubt about that statement. Not with something as morose, as gorgeous, as haunting, and as hellacious as this. Staggeringly good, but of course it is, it’s Abigail Williams. Check it out here.

Mazaic – Finite

London based alt/prog metal 3-piece Maziac are back with a brand new single and video called, ‘Finite’. Mixed and mastered by Max Morton.

A very creative effort that is packed with clever ideas and tons of excitingly anthemic touches. There’s a bit a ‘kitchen sink’ approach here, but in the hands of talented musicians, it results in a track that charms to the point that its runtime feels half its length. It’s a track with layers that you’ll be compelled to unpick, so multiple listens are guaranteed. Especially as it is so addictive. Check it out here.

Clawfinger – Scum

Clawfinger are back. Not to save the world, but to shout unapologetically while it burns. Their new single ‘Scum’ marks the return of the pioneering crossover band at their most direct, furious, and unfiltered in years.

Says singer Zak Tell:

‘Scum’ is a raw, loud, and brutally honest punk rap anthem that goes straight for the throat. It’s aimed at the kind of guy who’s selfish, sexist, full of himself and somehow still talking. With sharp lyrics and a beat that hits like a punch, ‘Scum’ says what we’re all thinking about that one guy we all wish would just vanish from the face of the earth. It’s angry and it’s dark. If you’ve ever wanted to spit in someone’s face but lacked the upper-body strength or social permission, this song’s for you.

The world is always that little bit better to live in when Clawfinger are delivering new music, and this new track is a banger. A nostalgic banger that sees the band as outspoken as ever (they are no nuances here), delivering emphatic crossover groove, addictive heaviness, and memorable lyrics. Everyone will find themselves screaming ‘your scum’ along with the band.
