Bloodstock 2025 Band Feature: Ghosts of Atlantis

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s Bloodstock time and 2025 is looking to be one of the best events the festival has ever put on, if we’re judging it by bands… which we are, of course.

Taking place at Catton Park, Derbyshire from August 7th to August 10th, Bloodstock Festival 2025 has not only sold out all its weekend tickets, but it also sold out day tickets for the Saturday and the Sunday and it seems likely that Friday will follow suit before the festival actually starts. Boasting a lineup that includes the likes of Emperor, Lacuna Coil, Ministry, Mastodon, Fear Factory, Static-X, Nailbomb, Kataklysm, Obituary, and headliners, Trivium, Machine Head, Gojira, and so much more spread across four stages, it’s going to be one hell of a weekend.

Ghosts of Atlantis

Hailing from Suffolk, UK, Ghosts of Atlantis are a dark and symphonic band, draped in cinematic elements, and rich with mythology. It is a sound that is dark and aggressive, sinister and twisted, yet universally appealing due to big chorus lines, emotive orchestration and massive hooks.

Of course, you already know this though, don’t you!? They’ve built up a stellar reputation for live performances, and have delivered two immense albums to date. The first of which, their debut album ‘3.6.2.4’, was released in 2021. An album we summarised as:

Grand, epic, dark, fiery, brutal – 3.6.2.4 has it all in an album that will grab your attention and hold it for the long term.

Of the back of that release, the band played Bloodstock 2021, hitting the Sophie Stage a member down but delivering an unforgettable show.

A short notice and sudden change of stage put Ghosts of Atlantis on earlier, but we were ready. As were a lot more people happily as the tent filled out nicely. Deservedly so too as this band have megastars written all over them. Epic, even with their own missing member issues, Ghost of Atlantis did not let us down.

They’ve only gotten better live too. Trust us, we’ve seen them a fair bit now. Part of that improvement coming from a stronger setlist as they can now draw from their second album, the immense ‘Riddles of the Sycophants’. An album we summarised as:

Ghosts of Atlantis have again managed to bring a concept to life with a sound, songs and style that breathes life into these tales. The continuation from their debut into this new album is there in concept and sound but the band have grown significantly too and there are clear evolutions in the song writing, structure and overall sound. Don’t fear though fans, this is still the Ghosts of Atlantis we have come to love, just bigger and bolder.

Bigger and bolder. That is why they’re on the main stage of Bloodstock this year. A spot that they have more than earned. We can’t wait, but neither can they. We asked them what it means to be asked to come back and play on a bigger stage, what they learned from playing Bloodstock last time, how much of a boost playing the festival was, and what attendees can expect from their set this time around. This is what they had to say:

We are stoked to be opening up the main stage on the Sunday after our friends in Machine Head destroy the night before. We have now played the New Blood, Sophie and now the RJD stage and we are really excited and hope that your hangovers won’t stop you coming to see the Atlantean carnage that only GOA brings.

Fans can expect a rich set with new material and new stage design, a chance to see the band on a stage that will accommodate the bands vision and production. We cannot wait!
