Single Slam: Kamelot, Walkways, Idyllic, Negative Frame, DazGak!, and TX2!
Today’s single slam features Kamelot, Walkways, Idyllic, Negative Frame, DazGak!, and TX2. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.
Kamelot – Ashen World
International symphonic metal legends Kamelot recently announced their new album ‘Dark Asylum’, arriving 28th August via Napalm Records. Now, they unveil their first peek into the twisting hallways of RavenHill Asylum with ‘Ashen World’.
Epic, but that should hardly be a surprise. Kamelot are masterful storytellers and this new album is shaping up to be one of their finest, especially as far as their delivery of thumping power metal goes. It’s a dramatic listen that has cinematic layers, but is notably anthemic. I’m not going to call it a game changer or anything, but damn it if the over the top instrumental theatrics and grand vocals doesn’t appeal!
Walkways – A Programmed Mistake
Tel Aviv alt-metal force Walkways have unveiled their new single ‘A Programmed Mistake’ alongside a brand-new music video. The track is the latest release to be taken from their long-awaited third album ‘A Reminder’, scheduled for release on 28th August via Wild Thing Records.
With a thick vein of chaos running through it, this new Walkways track is a tense listening experience, filled with intensity that constantly erupts in passionate fashion. The vocals are amazing, the guitars and drums are downright psychotic, and it has something to say. It’s very unique and it leaves one hell of an impression.

Idyllic – Side Eye
Liverpool-based alt outfit Idyllic have released their latest single, ‘Side Eye’, out via Blaggers Records. The track explores themes of personal insecurity and hesitation many people feel when confronting major social and political issues, capturing a tension between awareness and silence in an increasingly polarised world.
A finger snapper and foot tapper that has strong indie rock vibes, Idyllic know how to deliver likable catchiness that comes with energy. Yet, it’s the mid-point twist, an experimental poppy twist, that really makes it special. Be warned, this is going to get stuck in your head.

Negative Frame – Cut Throat
London metallers Negative Frame have announced the release of their highly anticipated debut album, ‘Break the Ice’, out 7th August via Bloodblast. The band have also unveiled the new single ‘Cut Throat’.
‘Cut Throat’ is inspired by the death of friends and family, in remembrance of vocalist Kesari Gorin’s best friend Charlie and Charlie’s fiancé Zaiga who lost their lives together.
Vocalist Kesari commented on ‘Cut Throat’:
Hostility, grief, denial and anger are the cold realities of life. Through the years, anger turns to empathy and denial turns to acceptance. No matter how long someone close has been gone they’re always by your side in life and in death. Rest in peace.
In the most feral of moods, Negative Frame’s new track is unadulterated hardcore-infused noise. Filled with the kind of aggression that will result in bloody noses, broken teeth, and a couple of concussions when played live. It’s a gloweing tribute to lost loved ones, in their inimitable style. Capped off by a surprising, but welcome guitar solo.
DazGak! – Big in Tucson
Irish post-hardcore/skate punk quartet DazGak! have unleashed their fiery new single ‘Big in Tucson’ – now streaming on your platform of choice. ‘Big In Tucson’ will be the opening track to DazGak!’s forthcoming EP Stimpy, out on July 24th – co-released via Floodlit Recordings (home to Pijn, Trudger, Wildernesses and more) in the UK, and through Netherlands based hardcore label Smithsfoodgroup DIY in mainland Europe.
A punchy, in your face, and energised punk and hardcore-infused banger that adds an emphatic stamp on the excitement most will be feeling for this new EP. Yet, that’s not enough for this band and across its short run time, they even manage to get quite experimental, which gives the whole things a fresh feel. I dig it.

TX2 – Evil is Contagious (feat. Reel Big Fish)
Fast-rising alternative phenomenon TX2 has teamed up with ska-punk legends Reel Big Fish for new single, ‘Evil is Contagious’. The track delivers a biting commentary on the cycle of pain and how hatred can spread from one person to the next.
Speaking of the new single, Evan Thomas (TX2) shares:
After the success of confession, we wanted to keep momentum going and release ‘Evil Is Contagious’ with our friends in Reel Big Fish. Ive learned hurt people hurt people in this world, and that is the point of this song. It is a perspective of the world, and why evil exists.
A collaboration we never knew we needed, but a collaboration that feels so damn necessary now, TX2 and Reel Big Fish combine forces to create one of 2026’s catchiest anthems. A bright and brilliant blend of alternative rock and metal with pop-punky bounce and ska energy. It’s delightful.
