Mimi Barks Releases New Single ‘Power durch Verrat’
Following the release of recent singles ‘Dreamstate of Hell’ and ‘Jericho’, Mimi Barks continues to build momentum towards her forthcoming EP Dreamstate of Fear (out July 24) with explosive new single ‘Power durch Verrat’.
Co-written with Sam Matlock of Wargasm, the track is a fierce collision of rap, industrial textures, trap-infused production and crushing alternative metal grooves. Driven by hard-hitting verses, a towering hook and a defiant sense of purpose, ‘Power durch Verrat’ further expands Mimi’s self-styled DOOM TRAP sound while tackling themes of betrayal, empowerment and personal transformation.
Marking a return to her native German language, the single also shines a spotlight on Mimi’s rap roots. While recent releases have leaned further into alternative metal territory, ‘Power durch Verrat’ places rhythmic vocal delivery and groove-driven intensity front and centre, showcasing another side of the genre-defying artist’s evolving sound.
The release arrives alongside a self-directed DIY music video filmed on the streets of Los Angeles. Embracing a raw and stripped-back aesthetic, the visual captures the same uncompromising energy that drives the track, offering an unfiltered glimpse into the world of upcoming EP Dreamstate of Fear.
Speaking on the track, Mimi Barks says:
If this song was a movie I’d call it The Consequence of Disrespect… Stylistically it sits somewhere between The Crow and Natural Born Killers. I imagine a female protagonist walking into a strip club wearing full corpse paint and a white tanktop with cowgirl leather flare pants, confronting a past lover with a gun. It’s dark, sexual and romantic in a way and almost theatrical. Then there’s this image of her dancing on the dead body like a stripper, turning murder into performance art. In reality, the songand the video ended up being much more stripped back and DIY than that cinematic vision in my head but people will see that for themselves.
Mimi Barks has built a sound that is entirely her own. Rooted in the collision of metal, industrial energy and trap, she shapes these influences into Doom Trap. Her music is emotional, heavy and unfiltered, turning discomfort into something powerful and strangely beautiful, with nothing in her catalogue polished for comfort.
Her story begins in Germany and takes shape in Berlin’s underground, where she explored the extremes of punk, hip hop, techno and metal. A move to London pushed her further, leading to releases that quickly gained attention across the UK and Europe and a rise that has seen her appear on major stages including Download Festival, Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock, Boomtown and 2000 Trees.
From her early releases to her full-length album THIS IS DOOM TRAP, Mimi has continued to refine her sound and dig deeper into its emotional weight. Her 2025 cover of Linkin Park’s Crawling carried that same spirit, reshaping a generational anthem into something haunting and unmistakably her own.
Known for live performances that feel like emotional exorcisms, Mimi Barks never stands still. After a short break to regroup and rebuild, she is preparing the next chapter of her story. New music arrives in 2026, marking a heavier, darker and more focused era than anything she has released before.
