Live Review + Gallery: Mouth Culture & Beauty School @ The Garage (24/10/2025)
The hype around Mouth Culture seems never-ending, their unique blend of grungey rock with sexy licks is turning heads everywhere they go – and as they embark on their biggest headline tour yet it seems like they’re only destined to go up from here. Selling out several dates on the tour, with all of the other shows on extremely low tickets, I know I’m in for a night of fun. First up though, is the emo pop punk six piece Beauty School.
Wasting no time in hyping up the crowd, they arrive to the stage to an uproar of hungry pop punk fans – their bouncy drums mixed with gut wrenching lyrics about grief creates for a dissonant watch. Opening up their set with the insanely anthemic ‘Day of Iva’ – one of the singles off of their brand new album – the drums explode into this slamming array of cymbals and snare hits – the insane tappy lead that’s still stuck in my head now, and plenty of that emo flair that they’re so well known for. Their set is chock full of insanely catchy choruses I found myself humming on the train home.

Following up with their leading single ‘When I’m Feeling Down’ they don’t slow things down at all – with the crowd singing along to every word, it’s made so clear that they’re a band deserving of their success, and I can’t wait to see them again. Their short set feels over too soon and before I know it, it’s time for our headliners of the night.
Mouth Culture are a band I’ve been very aware of for a few years, having become obsessed with the track ‘These Days’ in 2022 – I’m very very excited to finally be here catching one of their sets. But this isn’t just a regular Mouth Culture show – this is their biggest headline show to date and they’re here to prove why. The Leicester based alt rock band have been on a very fast rise, and it seems like the conversation around them is never ending.
Opening up their set with the insanely catchy ‘Sharkbait’ the atmosphere is shifted into focus. The crowd erupts and all I can see from wall to wall is people losing their shit – esentially. Their sound is on point from the second they hit the stage – drum hits sending pits into motion and grunge inspired bass riffs constantly keeping the floor shaking. Mouth Culture absoloutely excel at creating this harmonic balance of melody and shit your pants intensity – whilst not the heaviest band in the world, they’ve still got their fair share of chunky guitar tones and pounding drums.
By the end of this show, you could smell the sweat in the air, hear the blown out voices from patrons in the crowd. If the excitement I’ve percieved around Mouth Culture ever seemed like it was bigger than the band, I think they’ve proved exactly why they are being talked about so much. They’re definately a band to watch out, make no doubt about it I’ll be showing up next time they’re in town.
