Horror Short Review: Smiling Woman Backrooms (2026)
Smiling woman invited you to the backrooms. Join? Y/N. It’s such a nonsensical text, that you can’t really blame Lexi (Sofia Ayerdi) for typing Y.

Written and directed by Alex Magaña, ACMofficial is trying to capitalise on Backrooms’ current popularity, but in a cool twist, have combined it with one of their more well-known properties, the Smiling Woman. The result? A fun horror short.
Lexi, in a cool couch effect, has ended up in the Backrooms (a large car park) and the intercom voice is closing off areas at random. However, that is the least of her problems.

More of a Smiling Woman horror short than a Backrooms horror short, ACMofficial slip back into familiar territory here, but I enjoyed it none the less. It’s oddly comforting to see the sinister character return and oddly hopeful for the future with its ending. I didn’t love this one, but I didn’t hate it either.
