Horror Short Review: Ignore It (2021)

Written and directed by Sam Evenson, from a story by Jeff Speziale, Ignore It is a horror short that stars Madison Rojas, Madison Leyson, Michael Perl, Aina Dumlao, and Crystal Hughes.

The woman is back, but she won’t hurt you, as long as you pretend that she doesn’t exist.

This is the rule a family must stick to, as they deal with a spirit in their home that becomes deadly if its presence is acknowledged. Ignore it, right? A downright difficult task for an adult, but a kid who doesn’t understand the why of it all? It’s near impossible and that’s before you take into account that the spirit wants you to react.

A frightening concept enhanced by the use of shadows and angles that makes sure we never quite see the spirit but are fully aware of its presence. It is a short that you watch on the edge of your seat, partially because it’s high-tension stuff, but partially because the cast are all really good.

What’s particularly clever is that we join the family as their experience finally gets too much for some. While you could critique the fact that they do everything but ignore the spirit, it’s clear that this is not a new experience, and for some of them, they’ve finally had enough. It’s an enjoyable watch, and you can check it out yourself, below.
