Horror Short Review: DON’T USE IT (2026)

Written, directed, shot, edited, and acted by Damien Piata, DON’T USE IT is a cautionary tale about using AI, albeit wrapped up in scary story style.

It has a really simple story. A young man decides to prompt an AI program to write him a scary short. A found footage jump scare that he then decides to upload to YouTube but passes it off as his own creation.

What does this mean? Not a lot really, as the end result is the man finds himself in his own horror story. The why and how of it being wholly unimportant. It’s like two ideas stitched together with the only goal being to deliver the ‘prompted’ jump scare. Almost like it was written by AI…

Spooky! It’s a so-so short. One that has a good idea, but one that needed a lot more oomph to deliver something memorable.
