EP Review: Trivium – Struck Dead (Roadrunner Records)
Trivium are back! The iconic metal band will release their brand-new EP, ‘Struck Dead’ on October 31st, 2025, via long time label Roadrunner Records.

A potent and punchy EP that borrows from Trivium’s rich history, you can hear how their revisiting of the Ascendency album for the 20th anniversary has bled into the music they created for this record. Albeit with modern Trivium’s writing capabilities. No shade on the Trivium of old, but I think their modern output is far superior.
Here, we have three tracks and plenty of variety on offer. I had the pleasure of hearing Bury Me with My Screams debuted live at Bloodstock 2025 and can attest to its killer nature in the live environment. On record? I think the chorus is lacking a bit of oomph, but that is made up for elsewhere with plenty of instrumental fire and vocal intensity. A guitar solo that drops into a hefty marching beat before switching to head banging heavy groove is particularly awesome.
If you’re really game for hearing some Ascendency-style Trivium, then Struck Dead (Pain Is Easier to Remember) is going to please. The group turning back the clock as far as the chorus goes, with Heafy delivering some throat-tearing vocals elsewhere. It’s a cool track with layers and likely to please all kinds of Trivium fans.
Whereas the final track, Six Wall Surround Me is Trivium at their modern best, elaborate and varied throughout. Taking us on a heart-racing, soul-destroying, and mind-blowing journey of heaviness and melody. It’s the EP’s best track, in my opinion, combining the old and the new, and doing so in creative fashion.
