Game Review: Her Majesty’s SPIFFING (Xbox One)

Her Majesty’s SPIFFING is a point & click adventure game developed and published by Billy Goat Entertainment. Filled with British wit and humour, thinly veiled jabs at modern politics and tongue in cheek stereo-types, the game succeeds at being entertaining. However, it is found lacking elsewhere.

Game Review: SOMA (Xbox One)

“Soma is an underrated Sci-Fi masterpiece.”

Soma is a science fiction survival horror-adventure game that was developed & published by Frictional Games. The game takes place in an underwater research facility known as PATHOS-II. Unexpectedly, the crew of PATHOS-II became the last people to exist on Earth after a comet impact caused a major extinction event. There, the last humans survive on a day-to-day basis, attempting to fight the negative effects of their collective isolation. During this period, the machines in PATHOS-II begin to develop human characteristics and a consciousness.

Game Review: Ruiner (Xbox One)

Ruiner is a cyberpunk top-down, twin stick-esque shooter video game developed by Reikon Games and published by Devolver Digital. The game takes place in 2091 and is set in a metropolis known as Rengkok. The player takes control of a silent, masked protagonist who attempts to rescue their kidnapped brother from a failing conglomerate, known as Heaven.

Game Review: Kholat (Xbox One)

Kholat offers up its own dark explanation of the mysterious, unsolved death of nine hikers in the Ural Mountains on February 2nd, 1959. A premise that could make for a chilling and scary horror game. Sadly, the end result is mind-numbingly boring and incredibly ineffective.

Game Review – Shenmue I & II: HD Collection (Xbox One)

Well, this is a review I never imagined I would be writing. Shenmue is one of my favourite video games of all time. I played it to death in my younger years and have often reminisced ever since. Originally, it released in 1999 on the SEGA Dreamcast. Next year, it will have been 20 years since it all began. I’ve often dreamed of a re-release on modern platforms.
