Bloodstock 2021 Band Feature: Green Lung

Harking back to the golden days of psychedelic rock and proto-metal, injecting those classic sounds with occult venom and punk energy, Green Lung are a band to watch.

Since their inception in 2017, they’ve not stopped. As well as playing live wherever they could alongside the likes of Conan, Conjurer and Puppy. The band has also had a slew of releases. The Green Man Rising demo in 2017, Lady Lucifer single in 2018 with the Free the Witch EP that same year.

If you’re looking for the record that really turned heads though, look no further than their debut full-length album, Woodland Rites. Everyone, and we mean everyone, who heard this album had only good things to say.

The momentum was high and Green Lung took advantage as much as possible until the world came grinding to a halt in the first quarter of 2020. Did that stop these occult-worshiping psychedelic heavyweights? Not at all and the end result will be realised in the latter part of this year when Black Harvest is released.

Until then, you can get your Green Lung fix with the two singles, Leaders of the Blind and Reaper’s Scythe. As well as checking them out when they unleash their impressive sound on the Sophie Lancaster stage on the Sunday of the festival.

It’s going to be incredible. We know it, you know and… the band knows. This is what they had to say:

This is going to be the last set of the Woodland Rites era, as the next show we play will be the album launch for our new record Black Harvest. It’ll be a set that covers our debut extensively, but perhaps with a sneak preview of a new song. We’ve been practising every week throughout lockdown, so expect a lot of energy to hit that stage – we’ve been waiting for this show for nearly two years now!
