Wartime Nebraska

1 – Why Wartime Nebraska? Where did the name come from?

Well Charlie’s Mrs actually came up with the name so all credit goes to her for it, we thought it summed us up perfectly, we’re heavy with that country twist.

2 – Tell us a little about Wartime Nebraska. How long have you been playing together? Who is in the band? Where are you from? How did you meet?

We’ve been together for almost 2 years (actually 2 years as of this gig) Adam and Wayne were in a previous band but the vocalist left and the guys continued practicing, one day they posted a riff online and Charlie jokingly asked if they were looking for a singer and well we all just combined really well.

3 – What artists, metal or otherwise, have influenced you and your sound?

We have a multitude of influences, which for us is a massive benefit as it means we don’t fit the mould that you’d expect, Wayne brings the heavier metal aspect with his listening of bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Breaking Benjamin and Of Mice and Men. Whereas Adam brings the heavier rock aspect with Godsmack, Black Stone Cherry and then Charlie tops it off vocally with inspirations from Sister Hazel, Zac Brown Band, Chris Stapleton etc. It really is like a musical blender.

4 – With so many genres and sub genres around these days, what genre would you put yourself in?

For us we feel we stand out on all music fronts as we don’t fit the stereotypical mould you’d expect, thanks to our influences what you get from just a 3 man band is eye opening, we managed to find a way to combine it all from the screaming of metal, heavier rock riffs and the storytelling or meaning behind music you’d find in country.

5 – Any horror fans in the band? What are some of your favourite horror movies or books?

Well doesn’t everyone experience some sort of horror nowadays from ex’s to Peppa Pig but in all seriousness we love all aspects from cult classics like house of 1000 corpses/The Devil’s Rejects to final destination and Candyman, we do have a soft spot for the classics like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm street though. You have to love those never say die serial killers.

6 – How about games? What’s your console or game of choice?

We are absolutely huge gamers all 3 of us, Adam absolutely loves his car games and is in the 0.16% to actually complete all the Forza games 100%, Charlie can literally pick up anything and play it which people hate as his rather bloody good with favourites like Goldeneye N64 and Timesplitters it makes sense and Wayne lives out his adventures with his good buddies Nathan Drake and Sully in Uncharted where his often found sharing a bevy or two.

7 – Have you been to Bloodstock Festival before?

Wayne has been to BloodStock before and had a few stories to tell about buying glasses and losing them literally within minutes to finding his friend half dead after he also lost him in a circle pit. He said they were amazing memories but that’s what you go for and also to be able to say you survived it is a pretty major bonus.

8 – Where can fans check out your music, merch and find out more about you?

You can find links to our music on facebook @WartimeNebraska and on SoundCloud too again @WartimeNebraska

9 – Aside from hopefully playing Bloodstock Festival, what else do you have lined up for 2019? Any releases due or tours/gigs/festivals line up?

Well 2019 is a busy year for us already obviously with MT2M but we’ll be launching our EP this year alongside a mini release tour with support acts from the local area so keep an eye out for that, thanks again for the opportunity with the interview, it was great to answer the questions and we look forward to the article.

GBHBL would like to thank Wartime Nebraska for taking the time to answer these questions and we wish them all the best in their heat at Metal 2 the Masses Essex.
