European heavy/power metal, with its strong melodies, big chorus, heavy riffs and bulletproof musicianship, is one of the most recognisable styles in metal. With roots back in the metal gods Iron Maiden, Rainbow and Judas Priest, the style morphed, evolved and developed throughout the years, producing new stars to the constellation (Avantasia, Rhapsody, Sabaton, to name just a few), but never really lost its soul and essence. This is the world where international act Screaming Shadows move.

With four strong albums in their back-catalogue, the band led by Tygers of Pan Tang guitarist Francesco Marras is back with its latest offering, Legacy of Stone. It will be released in digital, LP, and CD formats by From The Vaults on November 12th, 2021.

While clearly and heavily influenced by the NWOBHM period, Screaming Shadows aren’t your average rethread of yester-year’s metal sounds. Even though they do have one foot in the nostalgic grave as it were.

What really makes them stand out as their own thing is the combination of this NWOBHM-inspired heaviness and European power metal flavour. It’s exciting and it’s fun but most importantly, it is a combination that Screaming Shadow make seem so natural. Powering their way through 10 tracks of riff-driven, epic soloing and chorus-heavy bangers.

Hitting a consistent high bar, the increasingly noticeable detail of what Screaming Shadows is capable of, makes for one hell of a thrill-ride. There’s no moody darkness here, it’s an album filled with peppiness and heaviness throughout.

Vigorous guitar riffing and sickening solos that has Screaming Shadows seemingly always having a trick or two up their sleep. Massive bass hooks and drumming that sounds capable of cracking the earth we stand upon. It’s all capped off by characteristic heavy metal vocals, clean and heroic sounding, that are the cherry on top.

Music like this can only make the world a better place.
