Album Review: Deadrisen – Deadrisen (AFM Records)

Deadrisen combine progressive metal with power metal to create an extraordinary, unmistakable metal sound! The band is the brainchild of the respected Rivera/Bomma guitarist Rod Rivera and the renowned Symphony X bassist Mike LePond, who played on some of the most important albums in metal history. The lineup is completed with some of today’s finest musicians such as Tony Stahl (Livesay) on Keyboards, Dan Prestup (Midnight Eternal) Drums & Will Shaw (Heir Apparent) Lead Vocals.

States Mike LePond:

I have been lucky enough to play on some of the best metal albums ever made, and the debut from DeadRisen will be no exception. It has everything you need for a great record. Each song stands proudly on it’s own with amazing vocals, killer playing, and heavy metal purity.

The self-titled album will be released on March 13th 2020 via AFM Records.

With all the gothic pomp of a classic zombie horror, Risen Death A D serves as an intro to the end times of the walking dead. End times that erupt with the sound of moans and decaying flesh with Prophecy. A frantic and desperate slice of heavy metal that really excites the senses.

Destiny kicks plenty of ass too but lacks a killer hook, although the drums are really on point. Followed then by the excellent guitar work and meatiness of The Maker and the mellow, vocally powerful, Reach for the Sun.

Hot, heavy and fast…Visions, Chains of Time, Fear and Fury deliver a handful of bombastic head-bangers ensuring Deadrisen end things on a high. Although there is the addition of a cover of Metallica’s For Whom the Bell Tolls to actually close out the album.
