Album Review: Profaned – The Human Condition (Self Released)
Swedish metal band, Profaned will release their debut album ‘The Human Condition’ on May 14th, 2026.

Combining the likes of thrash, power, doom, and NWOBHM, Profaned are a melting pot of metallised ideas and all of that is projected in impressive fashion across nine creative tracks. Profaned are a very good band and while they could do with tempering some of their ideas to help the album flow a bit better, it’s still a thoroughly pleasing experience.
Kicking off with a mighty head banger that combines zealous power with thrill seeking old school heavy metal intensity. It’s Majestic in both name and tone, and the perfect way to start the album off as it gets the heart beating fast and hard in the chest. The flair present there reaches a new high with the following Father of Woe though. A classy head banger that features Hexed’s Tina Gunnarsson, helping deliver a chorus that sounds immense.
Following two hyperactive efforts, it’s cool to hear End of Eden and The Demon Calls take the tempo in thicker, more methodical, and darker directions. The riffs of the former are meaty sounding, whereas the latter wraps up with some quality guitar soloing. This is the diversity I’ve been talking about, but it’s far from over as the album’s halfway point arrives with a bang, courtesy of the title track.
Easily the most expansive track heard so far, it’s here that the many layers of Profaned come together in a dignified eruption of excitable heaviness.
If you like that one, then you’re going to love The Question’s lethargic, but grand, melodic tone. It’s no surprise that we get a track like this, and it’s certainly been building, but personally, I’m more on board with the energetic ones so I’m glad to hear a bit more pep with the layered Dorian Gray and experience the extra ‘oomph’ that Cynosures has.
Finally, it’s Through the Veils of Death, and while it is business as usual for Profaned, there are a couple of interesting developments across its near five-minute run that make it more notable. It’s a cool closer and a powerful exclamation point on a very strong debut record that will appeal to varied crowds of all ages.
