EP Review: Call to the Void – The Power of Intention (Self Released)
London-based ‘rock noir’ four-piece Call to the Void (CTTV) will unleash their debut EP, ‘The Power of Intention’, on April 17th, 2026. The EP gathers the band’s first run of singles alongside three brand new tracks.

I really dig the heck out of this band and this debut EP feels like it has been a long time coming. Maybe that’s why it is so substantial, especially for those coming in fresh.
Opening with the crash of thunder, the distant ringing of a bell, the sound of howling winds, and a spoken-word mantra, the darker side of rock that Call to the Void explore is clear with the intro of The Power. Short and to the point, it transitions nicely into Resurgence, a fast-paced and lively effort that has groovy bite. Before Uncontrollable really turns the clock back for some classic sounding alternative rock mixed with glorious sounding goth. A concoction that proves to be utterly addictive, especially when the chorus hits.
Clearly an EP designed to showcase the breadth of Call of the Void’s sound, the four-piece throw caution to the wind next with the six-and-a-half-minute long Viper’s Venom. Not a runtime you would commonly expect to see in alternative rock, but a runtime that Call to the Void use to showcase something quite special. Potent rock, groovy grunge and dreamy pop blended together to create something quite memorable.
Creativity running wild, the EP hits another high point with the punchy Blow, especially as far as the vocals go. Before a cool cover of Edwyn Collins’ ‘A Girl Like You’ arrives, which would be notable enough, except this is a cover that features the icon that is My Ruin vocalist Tairrie B. Murphy. You don’t have to love or even like the original, to get a kick out of what is being done here.
L’appel Du Vide? It’s French for Call to the Void, which itself describes the strange psychological impulse many people experience when faced with a fearful height, the sudden, inexplicable urge to jump. A tense listen, delivered in smile-inducing anthemic style. Before this head turning debut record wraps up with the excellent Alive, where melody dominates in vibrant fashion.
I really do dig this band, and I’m so sure you will too once you get your ears around this record.
