Sea Sleeper Release New Video ‘Machines of the Bombing Run’ & Announce New Album
Portland, Oregon, based metal outfit Sea Sleeper have unleashed the music video for their new single ‘Machines of the Bombing Run’, providing a taste of the forthcoming full-length Burden of Antlers. The new album is due for release on September 18, 2026.
Launching with their heaviest song from the upcoming album, ‘Machines of the Bombing Run’ is a product of the band’s fascination with history and delves into the incomprehensible enormity of war. The track’s lyrics are inspired by the events that unfolded across World War I, and podcasts by Dan Carlin that explore this period in history.
Opening with a recorded narrative sharing a viewpoint from the War, ‘Machines of the Bombing Run’ soon erupts into a fury of discordant dissonance, intense ‘machine-gun’ double pedal rounds, and harrowing harsh vocals. Attacking on all sides, the thunderous sound maintains a continuous intensity over alternating rhythmic sections. Ferocious descending passages and a performance of clean vocals interrupt the onslaught adding moments of extremity in multiple directions.
Burden of Antlers was recorded at Sleeping Studio by Jesse Cooley and Shane Cooley. The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Jesse Cooley, with the cover artwork created by Johnny P.

With Burden of Antlers, Sea Sleeper have sought to hone further the cohesion across their composition process to produce a sound that is thoroughly eclectic, ‘weird’, and, ultimately, heavy. The band have increased their focus on developing riffs; returning to passages and motifs across the tracklist instead of diving from one direction to another. The result is not only cohesive but more intense as ideas are re-visited, re-explored and enhanced with greater depth.
