Live Review: Evil Scarecrow at The Dome, London (20/12/25)
I can’t think of many better bands to spend a cold, festive evening in London with, and even though Clutch are playing just down the road, Evil Scarecrow still managed to pull in a crowd well and truly up for some fun. Which included us! A drunken group of idiots (we had been day drinking) excited to hear both new and old tracks from a band who continue to be an absolute delight on stage.
To say that we had a blast is a bit of an understatement, and it’s fair to say that this is the tightest version of Evil Scarecrow that we’ve ever seen. Not only nailing the classics with the kind of ease that comes from playing them so many damn times but injecting new life into their shows with a ton of banging new tracks of an impressive new album, Silicon Tea (read the review here).

Tracks like Nuclear Fallout Machine Sentience, which does open the set in subdued fashion as it’s not the most energetic effort. However, it sounds immense. I actually think it might sound better live then on record, or at least the acoustics of The Dome gave it a thicker edge. Then there is the vibrant and hilarious Release the Krakhen, giant hen included, the anthemic Shoptimus Prime, the rocking head banger that is The Future Machine, which also has Evil Scarecrow pushing their prop game to a new level, and the danceable Green Bin Day. A handful of the new efforts that are going to be long-term favourites based off the response here. Just look at how beloved Master of the Dojo is, and that’s on Silicon Tea!

Of course, alongside those tracks, we have some classics and The Ballad of Brother Pain continues to be heart-wrenching, especially if you were near us trying to sing along.
Sorry about that.
Hurricanado was pretty damn chaotic too, another one I’m putting down to the booze. That we drunk. I’m 99% sure Evil Scarecrow were sober, but considering the madness occurring on stage, you can never be 100% sure.
However, while our spinning in a circle with our first in the air might have been a joke, our scuttling was on point with the finale of Crabulon. I mean, we’ve been scuttling left, scuttling right, and attacking for a good few years now. There’s no excuse to not get it right and it’s always fun.

Which is the perfect summation of the show as a whole. It was fun, so much fun. Which is to be expected, but even then, it’s not guaranteed. The effort the band continue to put into making these shows memorable is so admirable and it’s wonderful to see it pay off with a crowd as into it as we were.
