Pupil Slicer – In the Flesh: An Interview with Kate (Vocals/Guitar) & Luke (Bass/Backing Vocals)

UK mathcore heavyweights Pupil Slicer third album, ‘Fleshwork’, is out now via Prosthetic Records.

A record that explores how society and the machinery behind it (political, financial etc.) dehumanises and devalues the most marginalised (the poor, disabled, queer, people of colour etc.) in a ‘sort of’ conceptual way. Fleshwork is Pupil Slicer at their most visceral, at their most honest, and in their rawest state. Delivering some of their most intense music to date, but also their most compelling as their evolution reaches an impressive apex.

Evolved, experimental, intense, and emotional sounding, the detail within Fleshwork is what ensures it will be long lasting, but alongside that are more accessible elements that give the band’s sharp and complex mathcore edge a freshness.

At the end of November 2025, Pupil Slicer embarked on a co-headline tour of the UK with LLNN (Worn Out as support). An incredible show that confirmed them as one of the best bands in the UK today.

Pupil Slicer are more confident than ever on stage and a lot of the new tracks allows a certain amount of ‘flair’. What we’re seeing now is a performance, a more developed side to Pupil Slicer, and it’s making them all the more watchable from a casual perspective. Not the hardcore lot though, they’re far too busy pitting to the heavy mania to see anything happening on stage.

A few hours before they hit the stage, I sat down (in The World’s End) to chat with vocalist/guitarist Kate and bassist/backing vocalist Luke about the tour. Talking about the highs of the run, the fun they’ve had, the stronger connections they’re forming with their fanbase, their favourite things of the year, a perfect Pupil Slicer Christmas, and more!
